How I did it: I decided to shell out a bit more money and go to a reputable tattoo parlor in Cape Town. I already had a design in mind, and they stenciled it on my arm and traced the stencil. I was expecting it to hurt, but other than feeling scratchy it was virtually painless. It looked awful for about a week or so until it fully healed, at which point it looked beautiful and continues to do so. I look forward to getting more ink done! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I got the ink at a local store (black india ink ) and cleaned a needle and my skin with rubbing alcohol. My best friend Sarah drew it with sharpie and then started stabbing with the needle while i laid on my boyfriend's bed. it didn't take a very long time and she was done. it is only a little symbol for chaos but i've always wanted a home done tattoo by a good friend. She had to touch it up a few days later and after about a week it was … Read how I did it…
How I did it: The first one was scary. I did it the wrong way, in a hotel room at 17. But the others have been better. I started small, 30-40 min worth of work, and my most recent tats have taken between 2.5-3.5 hours. Im terrified of needles, but its mind over matter. Just commit to the experience. How I did it: Pored over designs, talked to friends and took lots of time to find a tattoo parlour with a great reputation. Now have a gorgeous, personalised black dragon on my right shoulder blade. Read how I did it…

Ryan Macy Is living life.
I’m looking to get a full sleeve on my left arm, but for now I want an eagle on my shoulder.
My whole life I was against the idea of tattoos. I just figured that if God wanted me to have art on my body, He would have put it there. Then I enlisted in the Army and got stationed in Korea. There wasn’t much to do there, so I got my first tat. I was absolutely terrified. I was scared of the experience, of the potential pain factor and I was really scared that I was going to be stuck with something that I might not want in a few years. So I took a long time to pick out what I wanted and finally just did it. And it was one of the best things I have ever done! I have since gotten 2 more tats for a total of 3 and it is looking good for a 4th in the near future… I like the idea of tats because it gives me a way to express myself. Each tat that I have gotten has sentimental value to me and is something that no one else has. It makes me an individual- And I like that!
karmadarling is here and now.
I started my quarter sleeve tattoo almost three years ago. Being broke all the time has put this one on hold. I’ve done three sittings so far, and I have the entire outline done and half the wind bars are shaded. Almost all of the cherry blossoms are done and one of the three butterflies are colored in. I think it will take one more sitting to finish this part, but there are two more parts. I need to figure out a way to budget this in, because I don’t want an unfinished tattoo for the next decade.
Hey everyone, It took me a while to get this done, but i found the best thing to help me was to read what you guys had written and a few other resources on the net that kept me in touch with peoples views and comments!
So i have to say thanks to the internet, i got my tattoo!
I found a great site that i was checking daily for news and even Twitter comments which was awesome, videos of people having tattoos done etc. It really put my mind at ease and also helped me choose a design! If you have any doubts about getting a tattoo, i am living proof that fear is a waste of time, just do it! if you want to check out the site i used to over come my fears see www.tattoodesignden.com (tattoodesignden dot com)
I really want to get a tattoo on the back of my neck. It’s definitely coming soon. I just haven’t decided when. ;-)

I love my tattoos. They are apart of who I am. But beware they are addicting!
