volunteer in the community

I’m in the middle of this goal. I was always adamant about volunteering and doing charity work but I came to realise that I was wanted to because I assumed that I’d receive instant gratification from it. I was wrong. Being truly fulfilled comes from working hard throughout a long period of time and doing something good for others for the pure joy of it. I’m a volunteer fundraiser events organiser so I don’t get to work directly with the people in need and the work can be repetitive but if you want to help make a difference in someone’s live, you have to stick with that and remember why you’re doing it.

I realy just dont know where to start and how to get more involved in the community. I did however piant a room in the School of The Arts buliding because my roomate is on the board and needed help. Like I said, not much but where do I learn more??

I haev found an opportunity to teach yoga to homeless women. I have to wait until October…I am excited!

.... Is that bad? Don’t think so. Anyway, I do what I can for the AHA.

I’ve volunteered at a veterinary practice, a restaurant kitchen, and at a church. I have made many valuable experiences.

I am going to bellydance for the people in the veterens’ hospital in a couple of weeks.

I emailed the special olympics committee to see what they have to offer me.

I did it for awhile, helping some senior ladies. I wish i could have been of more help, but i really ran out of time in my schedule. I figure, at least i contributed something. They were very appreciative and they didn’t expect it from a younger person as apparently i am.

I’m volunteering 2-3 times a week at the local public library and at a historic home. How could anything be more fun? I’m always amazed, though, at how trusting these people are.

So I stumbled upon the idea of joining the local chapter of the Jaycees. Not sure if I am ready to do this, but it is out there if want to do it. I’m going to keep it on the radar.
