Started this a couple of weeks ago and are going great. Ripped out a semi wall, and old cupboards and benches. New stuff has gone in except for the wall cabinets which are getting sanded and undercoated today (hopefully. Have sanded one side of the kitchen and undercoated ready for paint, it’s really exciting. So much more spacious and light without the wall and the old wallpaper, has really opened the place up :) Plus I have more benchspace which is wicked. Seems much more functional as a kitchen now and hopefully will encourage me to be more productive in there ;)

Done!
One wall to remove, second fix electrical, some paint and finishing touches and it will be DONE!
I can finally see the end. Thank GOD.

Are really unreliable, but at least we’ve had first fix completed. splashbacks next.

My partner put on some kickboards the other day so we have made some very small progress with this one but it is better than nothing. He is doing such a good job :)

We bought our place and moved in around September of 2006. The kitchen then consisted of a sink and a broken oven. So we ripped it all out and proceeded to DIY.
‘Cept we are crap at it.
So, the kitchen stayed a hole for about 12 months before we finally got something to cook and clean in. Took another three months to put in the cupboards and get the benchtops.
So now I am waiting for the electrician to come in and actually wire up my electricity (currently using extension cords – fun!), and for some splashbacks and a new ceiling and lights.
I desperately hope that this will happen before the end of April. But I ain’t holding my breath!!
shelves up, moulding painted, kickbboards primed. it’s getting done bit by little bit.
After 2 and a bit years of living here, finally all the kitchen stuff is put away where its supposed to be! Yay!
I don’t know why we’ve dragged this out so long. There are realy very few things left to take care of before we call the kitchen complete.
The big lingerer was designing and constructing the open shelving for above the sideboard. I’m happy to report that the second coat of paint is on them as of this morning and we should be able to fasten them to the wall in a day or two.
After that here’s what’s still left:
- prime, paint and attach kickboards under lower cupboards * done
- prime, paint and put up cupboard above fridge
- add grout to tile in pantry
- add grout between wood trim and counter tiles *done
- fill and paint decorative moulding above arches *done
