Visit the Arctic Circle

Going to Cambridge Bay next week. I hope to see the midnight sun!

I may take a trip to Iceland in early 2008 to satisfy this one. Anyone done this before?

I stayed for a week in Kiruna, Sweden then a day in Abisko. I was able to see the Ice Hotel and the northern lights. Albeit it was freeeeeezing, everything there was absolutely beautiful.

We aren’t going to Fairbanks, so the Arctic is out this time around. Maybe next time.

My husband and I are going to Alaska on a cruisetour in May. I’d like to take a flightseeing tour up to the Arctic Circle once we reach our final destination of Fairbanks. Just to say we’ve been.

Done this on mainland Norway and on the islands known as Svalbard / Spitzbergen. It’s great, the flora and fauna are a bit tougher. Northern Lights, 24 hour daylight in summer, I mean how many more reasons do you need to go?

• Get the car ferry to Norway
• Drive north
• Stay somewhere or other (this bit is sketchy)
• See the Northern Lights

Can’t be too hard, can it?
