So what on earth does British literature have to do with taking a road trip with no predetermined destination?
In college I took a British literature class to fulfill a general ed requirement, and my teacher was… kind of crazy. We came back from spring break and did the usual “what did you do for spring break?” discussion.
He told us over spring break he went on a road trip. Naturally, someone asked where to, and he said “nowhere.” It was the first time I was exposed the idea of a road trip with no destination, and it has since stuck with me. Most people in the class thought he was nutty, but it seemed like a really cool idea to me.
Kind of like that guy who just took $20 and nothing but the clothes on his back, moved to a randomly chosen city, and made a new life for himself. That’s adventuresome. But I don’t quite think I have that in me, so… road trip it is!
