I’m going to start by looking at British spiders on the internet and learning more about them. My end goal is to be able to pick up a house spider and put it outside.

I’ve been scared of spiders since I was 5 years old, after a Daddy Long Legs (not really a spider… but oh well) crawled on me and I couldn’t get it off.
I’m 16 now, and just recently got over my fear. I started taking macro shots of spiders I see, then trying to identify what kind they are. It helps to keep me involved in spiders, and appreciate them.

I remember when I just had my first own house I was sitting watching TV when I heard (heard!) spiders walk in my rice paper lamp. I saw their shadows on the wall! I called my parents but they weren’t able to come over, so I had to solve this myself. I sprayed a lot of insect spray in the lamp and when the spiders fell out of the lamp I first ran and then came back to beat them to dead. I remember I kept beating just to make sure they were absolutely not alive!
I know some zoo’s give a course where you can learn not to be afraid of spiders, but as far as I know not here in the Netherlands. They start with a small spider in a jar and at the end of the course there are people who even let a tarantula or something like that walk on their hand.
