Philip is bringing his 43things up to date.
Actually to be specific i drove from MA to CA, but that’s even a bit farther, in autumn 2004. It was a great experience and i’m very eager to do this again.

So much fun! If you are thinking of a road trip i recomend you read the book, Blue Highways by William Least Heat-Moon. And also On The Road by Jack Kerouac. These books will definately motivate and inspire your future trips.

I did it a couple of times and it was a blast…but my trips were a little different. I went from Northwest corner to SoutEast corner. Washington to Florida. Great trip there and back. Give yourself time to do it. I took 25 days to make the first trip and zigzagged up and down through the country…make stops and sites and national parks. SOOOOOO awesome!! Take a camera or camcorder! I went alone and I think it was super fun that way. Someday I’ll make the trip with my boyfriend I hope.
Have fun…don’t think too hard about it and don’t plan too much…just do a day at a time!
...it looks as though my husband and I will be taking another spur-of-the-moment trip this weekend (by air) that might lead to a second trip (by car) this summer.
...is this even practical anymore, with what gas costs these days? It’s like $40 a tank for me. I think it might actually be cheaper (and more environmentally sound) to fly….
