i’m 23 and since the age of 16 i’ve worked in office jobs. in the beginning i was grateful that i could get a job as i quit college as a result of falling out with my parents and moving out. 6 and 1/2 years later and we still don’t speak so i’ve never had the chance to go to university etc so all i’ve mangaged was to complete nvqs in business admin that were offered through my jobs and a writing diploma that got me nowhere. now the thing is eventually i realised that i’d only really like to have a career in writing/editing etc or photography. since then i’ve sought after advice of those in the industry but received little or no help. i’ve applied for lots of jobs semi related to photography and if i have been lucky enough to get an interview i was rejected anyway. i’ve tried my hand at freelancing and on the net and got nowhere as i’m not qualified. i just go around in circles, day in day out i’m working in places i have no interest in and it eventually gets so unbearable that i channge jobs. in a perfect world i would’ve liked to have gone to uni but now at this stage i still can’t afford to and have to work full time in order to pay the bills, i can’t offer my time for free to gain experience as people have suggested because i have no time to myself as it is.i’m just really sick of spending most of my waking hours doing things i hate and constantly find myself day dreaming….

This is a major problem as I’ve spent too long in my job in a shop since I finished university 5 years ago, and I am so lacking in confidence so I guess I need to work on the confidence and qualifications to get through the cv and interviews part.

I got the job for october aparently. We’ll see, he is going to call me closer to the date. But he LOVED my portfolio and we got along great!

I look stupid. 2 years ago

I went to Grimsby college for 2 years (not a nice place) and came out with a Professional Writing degree – what I intended to do with this I wasn’t sure. I’m still trying to figure that out now. For the moment I’m waitressing during he day. It makes me feel so useless because my boyfriend has a really good job and I see his parents quite a lot and I get the feeling that they hoped their son would get with someone who has a little more drive to do something with their life than me. Ahhh well it’ll all make sense one day.

I just graduated from University and all I want to do is stop waitressing. It’s so boring but the money and the people who work with me are so much fun!

I’m looking at this job that seems interested in hiring me based on my portfolio. I can’t wait for the interview.I hope to smash it!!

I don't have a clue! 2 years ago

It seems that for anything I think about doing, I’ll be highly interested in it for a month or so, and then want to change to something else. How am I supposed to find out what I’m supposed to do, or what I WANT to do for real at the rate I’m going?

I’ve had random jobs and jobs that I cared about, but after about 2 years at any one place I always feel like I’m over it. For now I just need a job but I need to seriously think about what I want my life to be like…
