C++ Quickstart Guide 11 months ago

This is my holiday goal. Well, obviously it will take longer than 8 weeks however I bought a book a year or two ago and im making it my goal to finish it! Its a quick start guide to C++ and its pretty good so far (im up to chapter 3 of 14). I have been able to successfully manipulate things that ive been taught to create my own ‘programs’. Although they are rather primitive :P

I’m gonna learn C++!!!

umm…. how do I do this?

Learning it is kinda fun 2 years ago

Some of the stupid stuff you can do straight after learning inputs and functions is great. Eventually builds up to great stuff and simple games. But also starts getting hard when you bring in GUI and stuff.

A long time ago in a job far, far away... 2 years ago

I think I still have the basics down, but having looked over some of the code from our games, I’m certain that there’s no way I could have helped!

i’ve learnt till like pointers at quiet a good speed, excited that it was so similar to C. Got stuck at ‘classes’. i’m so lazy.. Only one thing. learning from books, I am finding it a little frustating to understand wht the real difference between C and C++ is..

Already started? 3 years ago

I started this goal a while ago, probably three or four summers. I downloaded a C++ tutorial, sat down, and read (and for the most part) understood it. However, I never quite got all the nitty-gritty down, like the specifics of the code, or the exact details of things like pointers. So yeah, I’ve made some progress, but not nearly enough to say I have a grasp of the language. I definitely have a flavor of it, though; I can write a function, which I feel fairly proud of.

In college 4 years ago

I learned C++ in college. I don’t use it at all, which is good, since I hate programming, but that being said, I think the theories that I learned were pretty helpful.

One step closer 4 years ago

I’m downloading Thinking in C++ right now.
