Learn more Japanese so I can speak and write it fluently

For a while, I was taking classes at the language school of the Washington, DC chapter of the Japan America Society. Though things started off pretty well, it just got harder and harder and I was getting less and less out of the class. I think the class assumed that you had a lot more time on your hands to independently learn things or something. The book would start using more and more kanji and other vocabulary without actually teaching it to you. This, as you can imagine, got very frustrating. So I’m hoping I can figure out some way to learn more Japanese in a method that works for me. I may try classes at the language school again or I may see about a different school. We’ll see. But I really want to master the language. Languages aren’t really my thing, but I’d love to be able to learn this one.
