I started out in rock journalism writing about and interviewing different people. I realized that there were people that were making it that weren’t particularly musical. It was a matter of attitude, planning, and diplomacy.
Theatricality:
This is key to becoming a rockstar. It’s a blend of crowd interaction, image, and having attitude. This is half the battle of becoming a rockstar.
Musicianship:
This is important and it requires discipline. Many musicians spend as many as 6-12 hours a day on their craft. Most people see the artist on stage, but they miss what’s behind the scenes.
Business:
Most people will say it’s 50% music and 50% business. You need to be able to negotiate contracts and talk to industry leaders. Without this, you need someone you can trust otherwise you can get really screwed over by people that want to get the most money they can out of you.
You need:
-A Good Mentor (a rockstar, tour manager, producer, etc.)
-Good Image (something that’s your personality times ten)
-Musicianship (you need to have skills)
-Personality (This is important on stage and in business)
The success rate is about 1 for every 100,000 musicians and the ones that become exceptionally famous are about 30 per genre. It takes an average of 10 years from the time you start. There are no shortcuts. Do you have what it takes?

I live in a small town in ND,so finding a band is hard. im one of the few people in my town who play electric guitar, and that are good. Becoming a rockstar has become my dream ever sence i saw the movie school of rock. i then bought a guitar from my moms friend and began taking lessons ever sence i was 11. I am working on composing my own music and writing music parts to my friends lyrics. im not one for singing but i am attempting and working on my voice. i would like to become famous and move to NYC and start a music career and make a fortune out of doing something fun than getting a serious job to get rich. Ive always wanted more than what i have, but i am very gratefull for what i have. Someday i know i will be able to aford a Burgetti Veyron, in orange. Im just a small town girl, who assumes everyone knows who i am. I want to be more than that. I want the world to know my name.

I want to start a ska band… I can sing pretty well and I can play trombone (I sort of forgot how, though) and I play bass mediocrely… All I need is a bunch of other people… * sigh *

I love qualities that embody a rockstar. They have that quirkyiness, quick wit, status, great style, charisma, fun to be around . . .

I’ve wanted to run away to Hollywood after dropping out of school because right now school is not helping me with life at all, meet other want-to-be rockstars, and play clubs, get a record deal, and recreate the way guitar is played sort of like Eddie Van Halen because the music industry sucks right now with that unmusical rap shit and gay ass hip-hop. I would make a band here, but no one is as serious about making a band as i am. And most of them suck at what they play anyway.
