How to learn more about my family history by katieb3287

"I learned a lot about why I am the way I am and how I relate to those around me."

How I did it: Not only did I find the courage to ask my parents about their past, I contacted my great Aunt and have been corresponding with her for several months. She knew a lot more about my father's side of the family than he did so it helped a lot.

    I’m running out of family members to talk to about this and think it would be a very enjoyable way of spending time with everyone. I know only tiny bits of info although I know there are plenty of interesting stories in there somewhere.

    My Family History 22 months ago

    My grandpa has an old black and white picture of many of my late family members. I asked him about it one time and he went through and explained who the people were to me. It went all the way back to my great great great grandpa Pete i think. The point I’m trying to make is that it got me thinking about where i come from. My next thing on my list of 43 is that i want to learn more about my family history. Maybe, when I get older and have a stable career, I can even travel to Germany and see where I came from at it’s heart. Maybe i could take my grandpa and/or Dad with me.
