I’ve been reading and hearing that writing a business plan is not very important when it comes down to actually starting a business. That you are supposed to start your business and then write business plans once you see what it’s like to start and run a business all of your own. A lot of people get all psyched up because they write a fancy shmancy business plan, but then get psyched out that running a business is nothing like the dreams promised in a business plan. Take for example, how many business plans say, in the first 5 years we plan to close up shop and end the business. Well, statistics show that 80 percent of businesses don’t make it to the end of their first 5 years without closing their doors.
I can picture it because I started a landscaping business a little more than a year ago and I could’ve written a plan, but it wouldn’t have helped me a bit. Now I am getting close to starting my second business which is a little more serious than landscaping is for me, and I am mulling over whether to write a plan or not. I think I will listen to my books and the entrepreneurs I listen to when they say, business plans are just necessary if you are getting loans or trying to pass business classes in college.
I actually want to start thinking about which business I want to open in 9 years. I would like to be my own boss by the time I am 40. So if I know now what it takes, I’ll be prepared and have time to acquire the necessary skills to do it. Like sales skills.
More of a long term goal but I really to focus on it in the next 2 years.

This is absolute torture. I have no idea where to start, or where to finish. As for Financials, Cash Flow, Etc… can someone spell this out in Laymens terms? No wonder its so hard to start a business, you need twelve years of college just to understand the basics….
I’m no Account Pro, but Alot of this is just way to much to take in without some kind of help… and I need it.
Motown82 Is on to the next one.
I’ve always wanted to do this. I’ll start with some templates that I have found online and see what I can come up with.
Pancho Villa needs to stop messing around on this website and get to work!
This one has been knocking around in my head for two years and I really do think it would help me!
mmloretta is totally stoked today!
Decided that I need start from scratch… what I have from a few years ago is so outdated. Sat down with my friend Kelly… spent a two hour chunk on our individual business plans. Managed to get thru the beginning of writing about my product. I barely touched the surface, but I feel like I’ve done so much! I am on a roll… it is on my mind… and I am actively doing this. YAY!
No more procrastination… and no more “under-prioritizing”... this is super important!
