How to learn how to use Excel better
How I did it: Before I taught Excel, I worked as a contractor on a military base using Lotus 1-2-3. Before I presented a lesson to the class, I had to be well-informed not only on how to perform a task, but also be knowledgeable about common errors made in performing those tasks.
Lessons & tips:
- Become friends with the 'Undo/Redo' Standard toolbar button
- Use the editing and formatting commands found in the Excel context menu (right-clicking a cell)
- Pay more attention to the commands in the Data menu
- Spend some time learning the AutoFill feature

there are so many things that you can use excel for, and i don’t know how to do them all. but i did recently take a class at school that focused on excel and i learned a ship-load. it is really worthwhile, it can do everything word can and more in my opinion.
I use it for everyday things like balancing my finances, and tracking what I eat. This way, I’m totally familiar with the setup, and can try new stuff without the pressure of doing it at work!
