I was surprised to see this specific thing as well… I’m trying to figure out when I should start, as well as which kind of vegetarian I should try. Vegan? Vegetarian? Pescetarian? Tell me your thoughts. :)

    11 Months Vegetarian  — 4 weeks ago

So. Next month I’ll have been vegetarian for a year :)
I’ve experienced many things over this year. People have joked about vegetarianism, saying that I really just ‘miss meat’, my Mom has argued that my new eating habits get in the way of family meals, people have told me there’s no way they could be vegetarian, because they ‘couldn’t survive without meat!’ and people have asked ‘Don’t you miss [insert meat here]’? Also, over these 11 months, I’ve had to keep my thoughts to myself, and not describe to every ignorant carnivore the torture animals go through just for a person to chow down on a hamburger.
Sometimes the life of a vegetarian can be a quiet one with the reward coming from the satisfaction that what you’re doing is right

    Worth doing!

I have definitely lost some weight over the past year. Mostly fat but definitely some muscle as well. I eat about 3 eggs a day on average, and try to drink 2-3 cups of milk per day for protein. This is helping stave off muscle loss. I take a one-a-day multivitamin, so I am confident that I’m getting my vitamins and minerals.

I have a reputation for being a nuclear reactor regarding producing heat. I literally wear T-shirts in the winter, and never wear a coat. However, over the past year, I’ve been running less warm. I feel this is a good thing, because summers used to be awful for me, where I literally did not sleep for days during a heat wave. Last summer was far more reasonable. All in all I’d say this is a good thing.

I’m also happy with knowing that I’m really saving many animals. The thought that something had to die so I can eat is pretty much the epitome of selfish, especially since nearly none of us actually kill what we eat. (I have also said that I will eat meat only if I myself kill the animal.)

One problem I’ve had is that I still don’t eat healthy enough. When you think about it, one can be a vegetarian and eat very, very poorly. My goal this year is to start eating more healthy.

Lastly, I’ve notices that my spiritual growth accelerated this year, more than any other. No sure if they are related.

All in all, I have no intention on going back, but really do need to figure out how to get more protein.

Am beginning to worry about protein. Haven’t had meat in 8 months and I haven’t payed any attention to protein. I think Im supposed to get 50 g a day. I’m going to try to get protein by drinking glasses of milk more often, eating nuts and boiled eggs if I have to

I have 183/365 days of my goal done :) I’ve been vegetarian for 5 months and 30 days, and it’s been easy peasy… I feel better now about what I eat ^^ Just the feeling I get whenever I think about how much I’m helping animals, is incredible. I can keep this up for the next half of the year, and who knows, maybe the rest of my life

I did it. As of December 23rd 2007 I was a vegetarian for 366 days. It was totally worth it and I definitely feel like I have become a healthier person throughout the whole process. I will start eating meat again, but certainly not in large quantities. I would certainly recommend this goal to ANYONE who is thinking about it. Good luck!

Been veggie since July 30…and it’s now Oct 10…so it’s been 72 days. Wow. Time flys. I’m still keeping up with this and have no intention to eat meat. It’s incredible how the taste for meat just leaves you. Humans are great at adapting though, so I’m sure my body just took this as another adaption to make. I feel great, and have been less tired at school. The main lunch at school though, I’ve noticed—Is practically BASED on meat. It’s like the school got some meat, then built the lunch AROUND that. The lunch just doesn’t work with out the meat so I have to buy a veg sub or something. I have found one dish that I can have though, a bean burrito, I just have to be very specific that I don’t want meat on it though, lol, today I walked up to the lunch lady and said I wanted beans and rice on my burrito, and her hand automatically went for the beef even though I hadn’t asked for it. I was like =0 “No meat please!”
