plan a scavenger hunt

I’m planning one for my little brother’s 18th birthday. He loves puzzles and I’m not going to be in town for it, so I’m going to leave him a bunch of clues to find his present. So far I don’t have many ideas for them, though.

Some years ago, a friend organized a weekend retreat at an old manor house and all only directions were based on clues such as “travel in the direction of the Number 43 bus.” It was a joy to do and I would love to do something similar for my friends.

So its really more a puzzle game than an scavenger hunt that I’m thinking of. One thing I don’t like about scavenger hunts is the race against time element. The emphasis of my “hunt” would be the journey.
