It looks exciting and peaceful at the same time. Gotta try it.
How to go sea kayaking
How I did it: Took classes at the UCLA Marina when I was an UCLA employee. They lasted about 3 hours every weekend for six weeks. I took the intermediate course, too. Our regular instructor was gone the day we did kayak surfing, which was too bad because the guy who took over wasn't into it. Paddling 7 miles round trip one day was intense.
Lessons & tips: Eat like a runner before you go kayaking on the ocean. It burns a lot of calories!

far off in the distance whilst warming myself in the sand. I’ve wondered, “How do they do that?”
And now I know!
This goal has been unofficial for a long time, just a “maybe someday” kind of thing. But since I was surprised by an outing this weekend, it’s already done before I even post the goal!”
Started learning on the rivers last summer, but the Sea is were the real fun is
but I broke my foot just before going on vacation! Aaargh! No sea kayaking for me. In fact, I spent most of vacation getting around in a wheelchair and on a cane and walking cast. BUT, there’s always next year…I have meals and accommodation with relatives in PEI. I can do lots of fun sea kayaking there. I need to get my upper body in shape though. Time to get cracking on those resistance exercises!

Just a few weeks ago I met Misha & Ina, who have plenty of sea kayaking experience. Got plenty of tips and Alaska seems like a great place to go by the look of their photos: http://www.hoichman.com.
Its tough on the arms but great once you get a rhythm going. And its the best way to go sightseeing around islands and to really see rocks or wildlife close up!
One of my favorite activities of all time. Too much to boil down here, but perhaps one of my best life moments to date is kayaking in AK with my sister among ice floes.

It wan’t officially on my list but I had been thinking about it. I went for a 2 hour tour around Boston Harbor today . Definitely fun and I plan to do it again. I was a little shaky at first but once I got my balance figured out, I cruised pretty well.
I went with my buddies and we’re planning a few more practice runs before a summer camping trip to Hope Island.
Waterfall Nymph I'm the only sour cherry on the fruit stand.

Surfing in a kayak is so much fun! Kayaked from Marina del Rey to Santa Monica Pier for our last meeting. The most worn out I’ve ever been. Had to stop and rest and then keep going. Guys offered to help. Waved them off. I think it’s like a six mile turnaround. Whoo!
