write good poetry

i did this and turned it in for class and my teacher told me i have true talent and i should contemplate publishing

I think I’ve written one poem that is actually decent.

Though there is really no such thing as Good Poetry, one must know that in order to write something that is “good”, one must please themselves. If you write was is satisfactory in your heart, it will radiate out of your poetry and people will understand. Dont try to hard to look for a word just for the sake of Rhyme. And by the same token, do not be afraid to follow the rhythm of your heart if a rhyming word surfaces. All poetry is it putting feelings down on paper. Once you are comfortable enough with your own thoughts, then you can play with forms, types, genres, etc. Follow your heart. It works.

Your World

I called your house today
But you never answered
You never really cared
You never cared enough to call

I drove by your house today
But you weren’t there
You never really cared
You never cared enough to come home

I told you I loved you
But you never heard me
You never really cared
You never cared enough to hear me out

A lie that seemed to never end
Never-ending rewinding back again
Lets start this story over
Back to when I thought you cared

I always thought you cared
But you created this world
A world of lies and hatred
And I trusted it
Every thing
Every solitary word

I’d like to think I’m beginning to excell at my poetry writing. I’m more than satisfied at the work that I do with it.

My best advice is to just read poetry more and more and more. I’ve got like four books by four fantastic poets (Norman Dubie, Galway Kinnell, Philip Larkin, Mark Doty) that I’ve been reading relentlessly.Look for offbeat poetry and just anything that may spark your intrest, it will definitly help get inspired with writing original content.

I dont really like popular poetry. There is somthing about it that is just a little too sterile or a little too witty, whatever it is I can’t stand it. Ted Hughes comes to mind, “Tractor” was awful. Its not that I donn’t have any insiration to write, i do: I got my silly little love obsession but i think I need somthing more or I might just go mad. I have written 5 complete poems which I think are all quite good but unfortunatley only one of them is non-love poetry. I’d like to kick out into anger and hate and maybe write more humor poems. I also need to get my poems onto deviantart.com for the world to see and get some feedback. When I have done this I will give my user name to search for them or I may even write a small one for this page.
