...because it would make more sense to actually just go to a game and try and work it out. Which, being in the UK, isn’t going to happen just yet. So, back burner for now but I’ll check back in on this one sometime…

This book has become my friend. My boyfriend is passionate about football, which is kind of cool because I always waited to have the game explained to me as I figured my future mate would explain it to me and we could bond over that.
So we borrowed the book from a friend and I’ve been reading it, slowly… But I’m starting to understand certain things! It’s somewhat being explained to me in a very out of sequence kind of matter between him and the book – but I’m slowly getting a grasp.
I think by the draft I should know enough to get me through a conversation with an enthusiast!

Well hate is a strong word – lets say completely disinterested. However I do know the rules to American Football (and need to qualify this with being british and never lived in the USA) My husband was really in to it so I started watching when we first met and came over to games in the USA (actually came to see Superbowl 25 having won a competition!) I am so conversant that I can discuss the merits of pass backs and find them exciting plays!
Interestingly I chose to follow the Philadelphia Eagles mainly due to the fact that Randall Cunningham was the quarterback at the time I watched it. Not only was he cute but the best quarterback of the season and I loved the fact that he did many runnning plays. My husband was and is a devout Dallas Cowboys fan.
The most interesting game was when we went to see a cowboys/eagles games in Dallas. I had just got a game shirt and was a bit wary of wearing to the game, concerned I would be a spot of green in a tide of blue. Reassured by a variety of people that woudl not happen I went and – yes – I was a spot of green! However the thing I really like about American Football is that is a really friendly game with no real unpleasant fan rivalry. So apart from feeling uncomfortable it was ok.
I don’t really watch it now as coverage is so bad but still know the rules!

I just thought to check yesterday’s results.
So now I’m sitting here being smug. Still ignorant, but still pretty darn smug. ;)

OK, so I’m British and there’s this American guy in my office who’s always going on about how great the Dallas Cowboys are. I’d like to at least be able to understand what he’s talking about. I’d quite like to be able to argue with him about it. And I’d LOVE to not only be smug, but to be smug with a degree of expertise, when the Cowboys get well and truly trounced by the Seahawks. ;)
