DocD is on the move again.
While driving down the freeway by Berkley, CA, I noticed a billboard that someone had written over which said, “Eat a baby, go to jail. That’s the law.” They say human meat is rather tough and must be marinated for a few days to soften it up. A few years ago a restaurant owner in China was arrested for serving human meat shumai (dumplings). He got the meat from his friend who ran a mortuary. Funny thing was, his shumai were very popular, and he kept running out, so would have to run to his buddy to get more meat to keep up with the orders. If you’re familiar with Robert Louis Stevenson’s book, Treasure Island, then you know the character Long John Silver. Long John, also known as long pork, is a synonym for human meat, so the character, Long John Silver must have, at one time, eaten human meat, probably on one of his ship voyages where they ran out of food. Some people are aghast at the thought. I say, what the hell, I’d give it a try.
