how to do this basically, i’ve learned the basics of each. I mainly want to master them. I know “master” can be such a strong word but I want to be able to just wow people with it, and when I want to do something using either one, I dont have to keep going online and looking up what tags and functions to use, it’ll just be like knowing english.
How to learn html and css
How I did it: I started learning a bunch of tutorials and learning everything. I took every opportunity at looking at different websites, templates, css, and html. It was difficult for me trying to get back into the spirit of designing after I lost my home in a fire. Along with that, it has just given me the opportunity to expand my knowledge.

I’m taking an online course on web design for libraries through ACRL, so hopefully I’ll feel more confident about this 4 weeks from now! I know the basics of HTML but CSS is a total mystery.
On this for a week or 2 now. It’s really fun and challenging. I just need to figure out a few more things and then I should be able to finally start my website. I am so excited about it.
It’s not all that difficult, so for the relatively minimal effort you have to put forth, I think it’s worth it.
...but proud I am, nevertheless!
With Ross’s help I made a pretty new Archive page for my blog, with its own header image and style information. It’s not much of an achievement in and of itself, but it allowed me to get rid of a bunch of superfluous links on my main blog page (a rapidly growing list of monthly archives) and put them on a separate page. And it heralds the beginning of what I hope will eventually be a successful attempt to divide the site into several different sections.

This stuff is hard in really annoying ways. :-)
Also trying to figure out the Wordpress page building interface so I can design some other pages for my site besides the blog page. It’s a bit of a tangle because there’s no good “beginning point” where I can start and learn everything from the top down – everything I want to learn how to do requires learning about something else first, in an endless continuing loop. It’s pretty satisfying though. And Ross does help. :-)
HTML and CSS are probably two of the easiest coding languages. There are plenty of tutorials that teach them online, and they don’t take long to learn, so go for it!
This is one of the sites I visited the most: http://www.htmlgoodies.com/
This is not true programming, but rather tagging for the most part. This is a rather easliy obtainable goal – pursue it with passion and it will happen!
