So I have been playing ultimate for 3 years now and in the past year I have improved tremendously. I finally found my focus in the game and am to play smart, and now I have a genuine understanding of the game. Unfortunately, I shattered my ankle. BUT when I can play again, I want to get back to where I was and continue to improve. I LOVE ULTI!

Having played a grand total of once in my life, I just joined a very laid-back group of ultimate players who play by the Hatch Shell (in Boston) at 6:30 on Tuesdays. No points, lots of fun, and I think I’m slowly improving—which I guess is easier when there’s nowhere to go but up! =p
During a pick-up game a few weeks ago, one of the older players told me that I’ve improved a lot in the past year. Which is mostly a testament to how awful I was last year. Even so, I guess that technically qualifies as completing this goal.
However, there’s plenty of room for improvement; I’m average on defense, and can catch reasonably well, assuming I’m not being defended too strongly.
But my throwing is horrible. To the point where I once was “banned” from throwing upfield by my own teammates. Since then, I’ve been working on my forehand/flick, but I’m still not very accurate and don’t feel confident relying on it during games.
So I guess the next logical step is to practice my forehand enough to actually use it in a game situation. Off I go!
