move to nicaragua

This week I was thinking of what I should do after I finish my PhD. Suddenly I felt strongly that I will move to Nicaragua when I finish here. I strongly felt that this will actually happen (three years from now) and that someone will come with me.

Not too much of a relevation but I wanted to note this.

I visited Nicaragua last February with my best friend. Best country ever! For the first time I felt like I didn’t want to live in Holland anymore. The people were nice, I indulged in the Spanish language, the food and weather were great, the atmosphere was relaxed, the volcanoes a blessing to the Dutch eye, gallo pinto became our favorite dish. Most of all, everyday life was so much more exiting, interesting, rewarding! We didn’t want to go home… if fact we seriously discussed about not getting on the plane. Starting a buisiness. Buying a house in Rivas, or Granada maybe.
We went home. The first weeks back here were awful; the culture shock of being back home caught me completely off guard.
Ever since, I’ve been thinking about what would have happened if we had just stayed…
