Start my own school

I have wanted to start my own school since I was 9 years old, because I have always hated going to school due to what they teach and the way they teach!!

I have an idea for a curriculum, but I’ve got other things to focus on first.

I need to join the local MOMS group, see if I can get a feel for how many families in the area might be interested in participating in some sort of co-op/schoolhouse. I also need to ask my mom if the one in our hometown is still running, and if so, if she can get the contact information so I can find out how they formed, how they run, etc.

if only because my primary reason for setting this up is for my son. The earliest opening date would be for 2009, when he’d be a pre-Ker.

We’d have to dedicate a separate building on property to the endeavor (it would have to have its own address); it’s possible we could split our current house to be an A and B unit of a rental. Since each would have its own bathroom, this might be workable, with the right contractor. That is assuming we have something different for a living space, if we don’t, then maybe we’ll build something cool just for the kids.

I already have a name picked out, and I’ll be investing in the large pieces (whiteboard, tables, easels, etc.) gradually over the next few years (I guess I don’t really have as much time as I’d thought). I’ll cruise craigslist in search of good deals, and I’ll continue to buy books at the Monster Book Sale [I know that I just said in another goal entry that I plan to put book-buying on hold…I consider this a business investment and not just entertainment].

Although i actually went ahead and almost started this school.. i had to stop the project just weeks before opening due to personal and financial problems.

However i do hope to re-launch the school in the near future. The response i received was incredible!!

I am trying to start a small nursery school in Thane this June 2005. I don’t have enough funds for it though.. and am looking at all possible resources for funds. Hopefully I’ll be able to start the venture successfully this year.
My dream is to eventually grow this into a High School, But not just any school. Mine will be a haven for kids’ minds, where children gain not only acadamic knowledge but common sense and life skills.
What will satisfy me is to make this school the benchmark for all future institutions & not by its expanse (money and power) but by its vision!
