Reality bites if you don’t bite it first. Jesus said “know the truth, and the truth shall set you free”. I whole heartedly belive this. The truth comes at a cost, and that is to our comfort. We build up walls around ourselves with compromises and alterations and hidings of what we know to be true. We make our worlds more comfortable now by covering over the often hard-to-confront truth that lies beneath. But we will have to come to terms with is sooner or later.
So i sat myself down one day, and sorted out all that I thought I was decieving myself about. I took a deep breath, and confronted all the realities that make me uncomfortable. I decided to make many changes- I chose roads, for walking them takes days or years. The greatest of them was confronting the way i was living and my belief system about how we got here and why we are here.
I know we will stand before God one day, and I have the feeling you know that too. I chose to confront it now and live a life worth remembering, worth presenting to Him. JC lived, and got nailed to a cross, and it wasn’t because He said “don’t steal”. He confronted people with truth they couldn’t deny, but instead of facing it they killed Him. Yes, He existed and He died, it is the single greatest event in recorded and non-recorded human history. The people who denied it drove the nails into His hands, I might as well too if I deny Him- He says He’ll deny us the same if we deny Him here.
That’s reality, and I hope it made you uncomfortable. (But if it didn’t, I hope it’s because you’ve taken the first bite).
