To coincide with returning to weight watchers… I went to the fruit shop today. I spend $40 there… so now, I have no excuse for not eating fruit & vegetables!

Weight Watchers has a “Points Tracker”, with a little section in the corner to tick off if you’ve eaten your recommended daily intake of important things. When you tick off enough of a certain thing, a little smiley face appears. That little smiley face motivates me to get more fruit and vegies. I find that the easiest ones to tick off are dairy (I love milk and cheese…), and oil.
Today- I ticked off 2 servings of fruit, and 5 servings of vegies. I actually ate more than 5 types of vegies (carrot, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, sweet potato, and potato), but only 5 “servings” worth.
I’m impressed with myself- today I ate good food AND went to the gym! Perhaps after a few months on weight watchers, I’ll be able to mark this goal as “done”.

For the first time since I added this goal, I have actually succeeded!
Today I ate:I’m not sure if the serving sizes were quite right to meet this goal, but I did eat 2 different fruits and 5 different vegetables! That is an achievement.
There is a first time for everything.

I really love the fruit shop.
It’s nice to look around at all the stripes of colour made up by the different fruits and vegies.
And the plan is to eat them!
I haven’t been eating very well over the last few weeks, and I haven’t been feeling too great either (I imagine there’s a correlation!). So, I’m making an effort to eat a healthy variety of foods, and buying them was the first step!
you would think that with all the fruit and veggies growing on our patio currently, that i would be all up on top of this, but sadly, no. tonight, i had to sneak green beans into the rice cooker, just to ensure i had something green today. the only fruit i had was 3/4 of a tiny jar of baby food peaches that esme did not like at all.
tommorrow i will surely take an apple for lunch. does tofu count as a veg? if it does then that is even better as i’m taking home made tofu burger also.

‘go for 2&5’ means “try to eat 2 servings of fruit, and 5 servings of vegetables each day”.
Over lunch today, we were discussing our vegetable eating habits, so I thought I would look on the internet and see what the recommended daily intake of vegetables actually is.
Apparently it’s 5 servings per day! That’s a lot!
So I thought I would try it for 2 weeks, and see if I can do it.
For more information, you can look at the go for 2&5 website
James, I dare you to try to eat 2 serves of fruit each day for 2 weeks! If you take up this dare, I will give up coke for 2 weeks!
I wonder what the harder task would be- me drinking less coke (I too admit to being a coke-a-holic) or James eating FRUIT!!
