Sara is wondering if I'm wrong, and I know I'm wrong... am I right?

I haven’t ridden a bike since I was 12 years old. Which is just absurd, considering how cost-effective, healthy and eco-friendly it is! I’d like to buy a bicycle and use it for recreation and to run small errands whenever the weather permits.

MamaKitty’s new bike

As the little booklet that comes with the bike says….

“Not everyone feels the need to scream down a 20% grade or launch off a cliff into the unknown. Sometimes you just want to go for a ride.”

becoming a family addiction. I think Darling 1 was a little disappointed that her dad wanted to ride with me at 6:15 this morning. If we are feeling good tonight, we will buy a bicycle for me. Nothing fancy at all.

This morning my husband took me on a greenway that was built for bicyclists and pedestrians right in the middle of south St. Louis city. We went early to enjoy the cool weather and to avoid traffic on the way to and from the greenway. It was dark when we started, which makes me think we need some LED leg lights. By the time we got to the greenway, it was becoming light. The greenway runs along a river and the fields are misty. Early autumn waking sounds surrounded us. There were no bicyclists, but some dog walkers and joggers out this morning.

On the way back people were starting their early work commute. Drivers seemed cautious and considerate. I enjoyed the heightened awareness of where I was in relation to traffic. More riding will increase my confidence and capability!

Bicycling rocks! And I’m ready to GO.!

It took me longer than a week, but my bicycle riding husband took me out this morning. Now I see why he is an addict! When we can get the funds together, I’m sure I’ll buy a bicycle of my own.

Riding with my husband is such fun, because he knows all the good paths in the area. His experience with the different streets and different times of day for riding pays off. We rode about 2.5 miles through the park and along some nice streets. I’m pumped for more!

My family has suddenly become a potentially cycling family! Two weeks ago, my husband bought a used bicycle off Craig’s List. He rode it, liked it, but it needs some fixing up. Last week he bought a new bicycle for himself, a Father’s Day present. Today he unearthed various bicycles from around our garage and basement and is working at fixing them. Right now, he is out riding bikes with Darling 3! I’m going to accomplish this goal within a week. I can feel it!

I don’t presently own a bicycle, but I know that there are bicycle rentals in Forest Park. I’d really like to try this out soon. Maybe if I can gain some confidence, I’ll buy myself my own bicycle.
