Make the most of this summer

Is it still summer? Hmm, I’m going to go by the official season status and assume that it’s still summer.

The long weekend was fantastic. Incredible weather. The kind of weather we prayed for all summer.

Helped Ryan & Danielle move into their new place. Followed by beer and pizza, and a wonderful impromptu gathering which turned into a fun evening. Spent another day sitting and reading in the sun drinking coronas, being happy. Monday was about doing a few chores, enjoying mojitos and visiting with some friends.

This week is very busy in a good way.

This weekend is a Yacht Rock themed party (yay!).

Life is being good to me.

We’ve had this stretch of amazing weather.

It actually feels like summer. It smells like summer.

Tonight I have a Bachlorette party to go too. Naomi arrives in a few hours; Anna is coming over for pre-party drinks and Emily is joining us when she finishes work.

Just came back from breakfast with Joel, Rob and Steve.

What a fantastic day already. I have been so incredibly happy lately. For no reason in particular – although I did just pay off my student loan, but I was happy before that time too. I decided that this summer would be great, and it has been.

Perspective is everything, isn’t it?

So apparently August is not going improve, weather-wise. It’s going to be just as rainy and cold as July.

All of this and I promised myself I was going to make the most of this summer… Despite all the bad weather, I have been living up to this promise… Which is a good thing, because it would be pretty easy to stay indoors, feel sorry for myself, and spend my time complaining about how miserable July has been.

But right now, as I type this and stare out the window, it’s beautiful. The sun is shining and it’s warm. It’s perfect. I actually really appreciate how nice it is to see the sun and its warmth. Normally I wouldn’t fully appreciate it in July, because I would have already seen so much of it.

Life is being good to me. I hope it’s being good to all of you. :)

The cottage weekend was fantastic… it was cloudy and points, but it didn’t pour rain as predicted.

We managed to have campfires both nights… lots of fantastic food and yummy drinks… And of course the badminton championship (Yes, I rocked it. My serve is killer, it’s true).

We even had some sunshine on Saturday.

Tonight is all about being lazy and relaxing – mostly pretending to do important things but really just playing around on the computer and watching Hell’s Kitchen.

Tomorrow is drinks and dinner and the Manx with the lovely Emily, after the gym.

Apparently this horrendous summer weather is improving come August.

Regardless, life is good.

Why is the weather so bad?

I’m still determined to make the most of this summer – which is admittedly a very vague goal – poor weather or not.

Bluesfest was fantastic! I am extremely exhausted but happy. Despite the rain I had lots of fun and saw so many fantastic bands/groups. Dancing in the rain, even coolish rain, is fun when you are surrounded by thousands and thousands of other music fans. Good stuff.

This week is mostly dedicated to recovering and catching up on lost sleep.

This weekend I am cottaging with friends (it’s supposed to rain, again, but I’m okay with that now).

So… making the most of this summer has kind of taking over things…

This isn’t actually a bad thing, I think.

I’ve being going to Bluesfest every night (it ends this upcoming Sunday). Work, gym, off to Bluesfest. That’s my routine. I am having tons of fun and seeing some great talent.

I love summer..though I seriously wish things would warm up. It’s cold and wet this month.

So summer has been fantastic so far…
Bluesfest has been wonderful – last night we saw THe Stills, Okkervil River and Devotchka. Afterwards we headed over to the OZ Cafe for yummy drinks and good conversation. We ended up closing the place down and then when I got home I was too wired to sleep.
I am very sleep today but this afternoon we’re off to Bluesfest again… afterwards Rob’s party.
Yay summer.
Back to work Monday. :(

My vacation has started!!! :)

Last night Joel and I went with Sarah, Mike and Lyndsay to see ‘Dazed and Confused’ on the big screen at the Mayfair for the 11:15 p.m. showing. It was fantastic.

I forgot how much I love that movie… well, maybe I didn’t forget, but I haven’t seen it in ages. There wasn’t a big crowd out to see it, which surprised me.

Tonight we’re out to try a new lounge/bar on Preston. Seems like a fun place and it gets us out to a new area of town we rarely go.

Cottage next week, after Canada celebrations, Chris’ birthday thingy, and my birthday party.

So apparently the LCBO is going on strike?! What!!!

For those not familiar with Ontario this is the provincial crown corporation that sells us our booze (liquor and specialty beers, thankful the Beer Store, a separate entity, will not be going on strike).

I’ve called Joel and he’s off to the LCBO to pick up some must needed supplies in case this strike goes on to long.

Thankful we’re near Quebec and can always go the SAQ if needed.

My parents, who fly into Ottawa on Saturday, sent me an email entitled ‘booze run’ with their requests. Apparently most LCBO’s are being swarmed.

Canada Day is next week!!!

*Random fact = the LCBO is one of the world’s largest single purchasers of beverage alcohol products.

Ahh… A nice simplistic goal. I think I need to throw these ones in amongst the others so that I get a more frequent sense of accomplishment.

Anyhow, the ball is seriously rolling now because this weekend kicks of a very busy summer. :) Living in a city where winter is the dominate season (for far too many months) makes you really appreciated warm weather. This winter seemed particularly long and painful…

BBQ party tonight for Dave’s birthday. Guaranteed to be full of fun and shenanigans. I’ve made a giant batch of sangria to bring over, along with guacamole and tomato salad…

Better charge the camera so that I concurrently achieve my other goal of taking more photos and better photos… :)
