Gosh! 6 months ago

I just need to get this done! Err! I have credit card debt, with tons of snowballed interest that I can’t pay, and I just want to get a clean slate. I don’t care if it ruins my credit, I just want to get out of debt and I’ll build up my credit later!! And No More Credit Cards! Ever!

removing this just for a little while 7 months ago

(puts on Suze Orman voice) DEE-NIED!!!!!!!

Just discovered that I have been denied health insurance.

So, I cannot file for bankruptcy without health insurance because I need to have that option in the event that something bad happens to me health-wise.

So I move to apply to the state-funded health insurance programs that cover the poor rejects. Smartly, my parents did not claim me as a dependent this year, so that makes my small income from last year ($6000ish) well within the income limits. But I believe there is one aspect of eligibility I dont currently have, and this is that applicants, from what I understand, need to have been without health insurance for four months. So I can apply for this program in late August.

epic fail. at 26 years of age. how pathetic 7 months ago

If I get a tax refund and am accepted for new health insurance, I should be able to file bankruptcy.

Otherwise I have to wait to get some more money on top of the refund and wait until I have health insurance, which would likely have to come from state assistance.

Because I dont have enough money to file papers saying I dont have money to pay for anything.

oh god the irony…or is that a catch-22?

Sometimes you fail 7 months ago

I have fought for 10 years against filing bankruptcy. as i have spent a good portion of my life helping other avoid bankruptcy, i have realized that there are times when you just have to surrender. Even if i were to obtain a good paying career at this point, it would take almost 8 years to clear my current debt. This is the point of my surrender.

We already had an initial meeting with a lawyer. The next meeting has to wait till we get our tax refund. Oh. Next step: gather paper work needed.

taking the easy way out? 13 months ago

It may sound like the easy way out but it really isn’t and I’m taking it regardless! I know I have to save up or even get on a payment plan to do so. Most bankruptcy in my city are in the $1k range. I just want it to be over and the funny part is, I used to be a collector…go figure and my old company is now one of my collectors…lol! I find myself asking…”does ‘such and such’ still work there? Oh, tell her I said hi, btw…I ain’t paying ya”

There should be some type of finance class in high school and not the economics crap they teach you just to pass a test on balancing a checkbook but something really more thorough that prepares people for the real world! Spending 8 hours a day in school is definitely good preparation for entering the work field but someone please tell me how to make money and keep it!

I need to file my back taxes first! 19 months ago

I’ve met and retained an attorney, and I’ve been working on the ‘homework’ packet. Meanwhile I never filed my taxes for 2005 and 2006 and I need those filed before I can file BK! This whole process is so tedious and time-consuming, but step by step I’m finally getting there. Called H&R block to set up an appointment so I’m one baby step closer!

In the planning stages... 22 months ago

I need to save $400 for the lawyer, and then I can get the ball rolling. Bye-bye medical bills, creditors calling at all hours of the day, threatening letters… my god, I can’t wait. And I have a budget and a plan already worked out for after the filing, to make sure that I avoid the mistakes that got me into this mess in the first place.
