half way  — 1 week ago

Well, I just finished my last massage from my first internship and am moving on to semester two of school (and afterwards will have another 25 hour internship). I’m actually a little more than half way done, but this second semester will be much more challenging I can already tell.
So far things are going super well though!

Tentative Professional Degree  — 2 months ago

As of right now, following the completion of my undergrad in May, I am considering obtaining a message therapy license, i.e. Cortiva Institute, to support (part-time) my graduate studies.

    Worth doing!

It takes a lot of time and effort and learning tons of new stuff, but if you really like massage and helping others to feel better, and yourself, then it is worth it.

I don’t think this really is my calling.

I’ve been to three classes already, so that means I decided on the Winter Intensive course. It’s 500 hours, 2 days a week for 8 hours, and we are already into hands on stuff, it’s great. I still need to buy my own lotions, and a table, then turn the extra room in our house into a homework/massage room, ha. It’s really awesome though, and I’ve made new friends too.

    yay :)  — 7 months ago

I will be registering soon, and I’m so freaking excited! I’ve been waiting for this for so long. I just can’t decide if I want to do the Winter Intensive program and work my butt off and get finished early, or if I want to take my time a little bit more, start in March and finish a year later. Oy vey…

I’ll be going here in about a year when I move back home. I’m so excited, I went for an orientation a while ago, and loved it, I can’t wait!

why do you want to be a massage therapist?  — 1 year ago

    Worth doing!

I really advise people to consider why they want to be a massage therapist. If it’s to make money you will not stay in the profession for long. I also recommend you talk to other massage therapist and find out what school involves. People think it is easy to learn and fail to realize the amount of A&P required. Other than that I think massage therapy is awesome. I absolutely love my profession and school truly changed my life.

It was hard but worth it  — 1 year ago

    Worth doing!

I almost quit a few times, it was not easy, but definitely worth doing. After completion I took and passed the National Certification test. My only problem is that I moved to one of the only 2 states(WA and NE) that requires 1000 hours, I have 815. So if I want to work in this state I have to go back to school. I went to UCMT (the Las Vegas campus).
