How I did it: Once I finally realized that I needed te become a teacher (I was called to the profession in college when I was about 2/3 of the way through undergrad and studying to be an anthropologist) I busted my butt through as many teaching and English classes as I could manage. Since I was motivated, my grades were very good, but it was a lot of work. Methods courses are hard to take concurrently, so I recommend taking more than 2 year… Read how I did it…

It has taken me 2 years to get my priorities in order, but I have decided I want to become an English teacher. I just need to know if someone can help me figure out what I am suppose to do now. I have ran searches upon searches and it tells me nothing. I need to know what courses I need to take in College to make this possible. Anyone??? I know that requirments are different in each state so, if it helps anyone I live in West Virginia.
protothor is looking at college.
I want to become an English teacher more than anything else, right now. Currently I am a senior in high school and have no idea where I want to go to college, but I know I’m going, and what I want to go for.

I received my first pay check last Friday (the 5th). I guess that makes me an official English teacher…
I want to teach English for 6th-12th graders. I’m really excited for when I am going to teach 11th and 12th grade because then I get to have lessons on Shakespeare.
English Teaching is my ultimate career goal. I want to help inspire in young adults a love of learning similar to the one I developed, through reading and writing. I think there is nothing more magical than reading a great book.

I’m a junior in high school, and I’ve been torn thinking about what I want to with my life, what I want to go to college for, et cetera—I really love English, but I also love film, and I’ve been back and forth a thousand times.
Today in English class, however, my teacher basically lectured us about how are so many opportunities in technology and we’ll all have wonderful happy lives with big houses and cars and everything if we go in that direction. She said we’d be out of our minds to try to be an English teacher.
...which finally convinced me that I want to be an English teacher. xD
