PunkyBruiser feels healthier then I have in a while.

Getting closer 6 months ago

Went and dropped an obscene amount at the local whole foods last night. Only vegan buys. Excellent! One giant step closer. I will continue to eat the few non vegan items I have in the house, but am making the choice not to puchase any more at the store. Now if only I didn’t eat out so often… or knew how to cook.

Lacto ovo vegetarian for 4 years, vegan for 6 months of it but went back to veggie during my pregnancy at the urging of my ob. Can’t seem to get back off the the little bit of cheese I consume when I eat out. I’m trying so hard, but Phoenix isn’t the veggie friendliest place. There is only one restaurant I can even find raw food here.

Animal-free? How did I ever do it? 21 months ago

In my twenties I went vegetarian, not wanting to ingest the fruits of a barbarically cruel meat industry. Then I decided to take it further, eliminating milk and eggs. And you know what that left? Almost freakin’ nothing. Eggless bread, milkless recipes? Everything seemed to taste dry and hard, like self-imposed penitence. There must be a way to eat vegan that isn’t like a likfetime of Lent…mustn’t there?

moving slowly 2 years ago

10 years vegan, moved to the least vegetarian/vegan friendly place imaginable…and the food labels are in another language, making even veganism at home a challenge.

after gaining a TON of weight, i am slowly moving back into it. breakfasts are staying vegetarian for a while to help me drop the weight…lunches are 50/50…and dinners are vegan (i think…the chili sauce may contain something…i’ll find out soon).

the plan is for full veganism, no mistakes (having someone translate enough food products that i can be certain at home), everything by oct. 1st. i know its a ways off…but the situation is very difficult here.

I’ve been a vegetarian for five years, and years two and three were spent as a vegan. I felt so much healthier at that time, but I started eating eggs and dairy again when I moved to France. I just kind of stayed that way through the rest of my travels (I was abroad for a year and a half), and now really have no excuse for eating dairy and eggs except for lust! I’d really like to get back into my old eating habits, because I feel unhealthy just being a regular vegetarian. I’ve started cooking for myself, making a lot of Thai and Indian food, so I’m getting really close to making the switch. Wish me luck!!!

2 Weeks Behind Me! 3 years ago

Well tomarrow it will be two weeks in which I have eaten only living foods. Fruits/Veggies only! It has been great! The first time I was a vegan, I remember losing all cravings for sugar and began to eat simply for nourishment…well that is happening again! I am even eating more stict then before. I can not take the credit of course (All Good Things Come From Above) and, I am so thankful! Each day gets easier. When a craving does arise…it only last a moment. I have no desire to feel yucky again. Not only that but, I have more energy, coffee dependence is decreasing (another goal), I feel lighter (but, I don’t know…I refuse to weigh), less morning breath, less gas (in the beginning I had gas/tummy ache but, its gone), I feel happier and ooh la la…Mr. Rodriguez is noticing!!!! LOL! I am being goofy now but, it has been great! I want to make this permenent!!!! Good luck to my fellow vegan again-ers!

you'd think it would be easy... 3 years ago

I was raised vegan, so for 16 years of my life I stuck with it. Then high school rolled around and I started eating cheese pizza among other things and slowly was demoted to vegetarian. That lasted for about two years until I tried my first meat. Now at the age of 19 I’m trying to straighten out and be the healthy person I used to be. It’s alot harder than I thought. After 16 years of strict veganism, I don’t understand why I can’t just instantly change. I feel like it should be rooted deep inside me almost as a primal instinct.
