Found three flower prints that were not being used at home, a small silver clock, basket for holding documents, and a pillow. Brought them to work with the new photo frame. Also picked up rock candy sticks for the candy jar and a bamboo plant (allergy free? fairly sturdy?). It’s definitely the cleanest desk in the office and it is starting to feel serene.

Very excited to have relocated to a new department within my company. Downside is that my groupies and spicy desk are now sans me, and I sans them. Now I reside in a quiet sea of gray that will induce sleep if you’re not careful. I call it the creativity drain.
I got rid of all of the random things I accumulated in the past 5 yrs, and wanted to make it feel more like home. I bought a new lamp that provides a more natural light than the fluorescent bulbs. I bought a candy jar (empty) and an air freshner. I have taken the minimalist approach clearing off most items from the desk to maximize work space. I now want to decorate the gray fabric walls with some color or print pattern. I picked up a photo frame from Target that is a new take on the photo cube. I’m thinking of getting a colorful storage box for desktop papers, a plant/fish/terrarium, and what I really wanted to do was to build a window into my windowless office. I was thinking of refinishing an old window, building on a window box to allow it to stand on my desktop, and blowing up a favorite view photo to put behind the glass. In the window box, I want to insert small bud vases for fake or real plants, and fill the rest with something organic feeling. Rocks maybe. Finish it with an interesting clock, a throw rug and lumbar pillow.

I share an office space with my good buddy at work and we decided to decorate our cubicle areas to make it a more welcoming and happy place! This is what I came up with so far:
That’s just one side of my office, the other side is a secret! I figured if I have to be there all day, I want to be able to look around and smile or feel peace :D Having pictures of my husband and close family is such a treat for my eyes, especially when things get hectic! I also made a collage of beautiful nature places so that if I am really overwhelmed, I can look at my collage and envision myself being in one of those places! It ties into my dream of traveling ;D

I had my own whole office with plush carpet, a ceiling fan and huge windows with a nice view and full reign of a full sized kitchen all day… but being around that employer really drove me insane on an all day, every day basis. I can do most of the tasks he needs done from anywhere with my tablet laptop. So I got a new full time job with health/dental benefits where I already know and get along great with all ~20 employees, get to travel and really expand my professional abilities.
The down side: I have to fit myself comfortably in a 8×10 cubicle with lots of equipment. Other jobs that I’ve had weren’t office jobs so this is my first time making the transition. I will have to spend an easy 10-12 hours a day in this box when the work starts piling in and I NEED to feel comfortable. All of the other employees don’t ‘decorate’, they just put up a few pictures and stuffed animals so the overall feel of the office is pretty drab. Grey carpet, grey dividers and off-white paint in a building that is over 100 years old.
Ideas so far…
1. Build UP. Use the vertical space wisely.
2. Plant(s) with a grow light (no natural light near).
3. Disconnect fluorescent lights and install my own because they drive me crazy.
4. My own rug that adds some color and/or texture.
5. 3.5’ memory foam ‘bean bag’ chair that I can store under a table when not in use, but it would get plenty of use because I don’t like sitting in chairs all day.
6. Colorful fabric to cover the old, grey dividers.
I’ve been told by those I have asked so far if it would be OK (since nobody else has done it and some have been there for YEARS) and they say yes and that it might inspire others so I’m really gung-ho about doing it.
Any ideas/suggestions?
and told us to “grow with Arnold”.... and I grew so much that I needed a bigger pot! So I bought one from Target and re-potted my “spider plant” and it really makes me happy. It makes my cube pretty, too.
Ger stuck some Easter eggs up on my cubie wall today while he was visiting me at work. He made a smiley face with them :) And Julia made me a “weapon” out of foam; that is now hanging on my cube wall, too.
Coming alonggggg
I brought a bunch more pictures and frames, so I brought those in. It looks a little better. I think over time I will collect more random little things that will go up on the walls, etc, so I’m not too worried about it, really :)

While I view this as a perpetual work in progress I feel that I have made enough editions to count this as done. But not done, if you know what I mean ;)

So I have completed another collage though I have not brought it to work yet as I had to carry in another plant. This one is all bright and red & me.
Once I have the Collage up tomorrow I am going to mark this complete but probably keep adding to it naturally.
