Hmn, I don’t remember marking this “not worth it,” then again, if I had to rank the level of excitement derived from marking this goal complete, it wouldn’t be very high either. I’m marking this done, at least for now and giving it a “worth doing” rating because I was pretty excited when I started and like many of the songs in it.

You guys inspired me. It seems damn hard, i’ve made a bunch of cds about this stuff but every time i burn a new one, it misses something or something doesn’t belong. All I’ve got really is like Bon Jovi loves to summarize the depression breakup place

25. Feist’s “Let It Die”
26. Feist’s “One Evening”
27. Kings of Convenience’s “I’d Rather Dance With You” //Erlend is so geeky in this video, I have fantasies about it. ;-)

Er, I have to figure out how to transplant these mp3’s onto a tape recorder, which I don’t have, actually, I don’t even have a tape player, which makes me wonder about the future listenings of such a tape, but whatever. It wouldn’t be the same if I burned it, this means I’ll have to seek counsel from the dj friends about how to do this.

Parece que se ha vuelto una pequeña obsesión trabajar en esta meta, eh? ;-)

17. Bel Canto’s “Rumor”
18. Faithless’ “Evergreen”
19. Faithless’ “Fade Into You” //striking this off the mix
20. Lamb’s “All In Your Hands”
21. Lamb’s “Gorecki”
22. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ “Where The Wild Roses Grow”
23. Portishead’s “Glory Box”
24. Viva Voce’s “Mixtape=Love” //que chevere título, no? ;-)

I am quite fond of the songs in this part (18, 21, 22), actually I’m fond of all the songs in my mix tape, and it’s sort of taken a particular mood, it’s definitely me, which I like, and at the same time makes me think that I am far away from making the best ever mix tape for everyone.

10. Johnny Cash’s “One”
11. Massive Attack’s “Better Things”
12. Stina Nordenstam’s “And She Closed Her Eyes”
13. Stina Nordenstam’s “Crime”
14. Air’s “You Make It Easy”
15. Luksus’ “Nothing Day”
16. Zero 7’s “Home”

I dunno, it isn’t the “best ever” mix yet, my taste is so subjective to my mood, that the mix is all over the place (or at least it feels like it falls apart on tracks 6-9, or maybe it just falls apart altogether). Also, excluding 99.9% of my music is harder than I thought. This is one tough goal.

Preliminary thoughts on this, no particular order involved, not cohesive, well aware that this is a process and not something I can crank out in a few seconds, hmm…ok?

1. Daft Punk’s “Something About Us”
2. Beth Orton’s “Sweetest Decline”
3. Beth Orton’s “Stars All Seem To Weep”
4. Leonard Cohen’s “Boogie Street”
5. Leonard Cohen’s “In My Secret Life”
6. Bebel Gilberto’s “Baby”
7. Bebel Gilberto’s “So Nice (Summer Samba)”
8. Roberta Flack’s “Feel Like Makin’ Love”
9. Elliott Smith’s “Thirteen”

I was listening to this song the other day and realized that it’s one of the perfect tracks for the end of a mix like this. It perfectly deconstructs the complex (be it egotism or intimacy issues or dramaphilia or some other neurosis) that causes some of us to bail on perfectly healthy relationships, much to the bewilderment of friends.

Hey, I just invented a word: dramaphilia!
