unfortunately homeschooling is illegal here in Italy. Well and the best way for him to learn Italian is by going to school here. But I did put him in the closest thing to homeschooling and that’s private school. He is doing great. But I do think homeschooling is the best and would start it up again in a heartbeat if we ever moved back to the States- Forgot to mark this as “WORTH DOING” sorry!!

I am a teacher in public school and I have made the decision to home school my children. I do not feel that the education system is benefitting our children and with some work they can get a well-rounded, strong education by studying at home. The internet has opened a whole new world for home schooling and there are many historic sites in the area I live in. I want my children to continue to love learning and the public school system tends to kill that desire in them.

We have two children, 6 and 3. Our 6 year old was tested by the local school, and found to have a fourth grade reading level. I think she reads better than some of the sixth and seventh graders I have in the classes I substitute.
We teach our children the basics plus practical experience of harvesting, cooking, survival, nature studies, art, and music. Our children can understand German and Spanish, and are learning to speak them and Chinese (Mandarin, or Han dialect).
