Persuade as many people as possible to read at least one historical romance to support Romantic Rose

catherineaq doesn't have enough time in the day

story 2 years ago

I must explain why it took me ridiculously long to check this off.

Soon after adopting this goal, I read a few things that could technically have been called historical romances. But I wanted to read one that was flat-out, unambiguously a historical romance.

Also, to really support this, I thought I should actually buy the book. Y’know, increase sales in the industry and therefore demand for the product.

But the impediments were: I can’t remember when I’ve last shopped for fun (which includes bookstores) because of a constant time crunch. So I didn’t buy one for ages. And in the little time I get for reading, I was plugging away at a really dull book (which I regret sticking with!)

But finally, finally! I got to a bookstore for a few minutes, and I finished my dull book.

So I read Morning Song by Karen Robards and I quite enjoyed it. And this goal is done.

RR, I hope you sell your book! Judging from your 43T writing, I think your book would be great!

Finished the book, "See Jane Date." 3 years ago

Okay, I finished, “See Jane Date,”and surprising I really liked the characters, especially Jane Gregg, the Associate Editor of Posh Publishers. The best part of the book was also the saddest part when I think of the hundreds of women who were ever, “dumped” by their “boyfriends” after having sex with them. The women who really fall for the guy and then get dumped take it really hard (because of all the time and effort they put into the relationship) and then, he goes after someone else.

Why do men do this to hurt these women and then, say, “I didn’t mean to hurt you.” My only negative comment of the book was I had wished the sex was alot more steamier instead of being rated R, for nudity. I haven’t seen the movie but, after reading the book it might be interesting to watch.

not much into romance 3 years ago

but well written gets my vote no matter the genre.

here is the series i read and truly riveting in its historical background. Recently read A Breath of Snow and Ashes from the series (missed reading The Fiery Cross) but when i can get a copy it will be read also.

now in curious pose… where is romantic rose?

A good excuse 3 years ago

to read for fun. Our tiny town doesn’t have enough books to really satisfy my browsing passion, so this was a good excuse to go to the big town’s library and grab a handful of promising looking books. Since in CT you can return library books at any library (not just where you checked them out), this strategy works really well.

Thanks for a good time Rosie! ;-D

And duh, I’m about a chapter in and I know I’ve read it before. Silly me. The real idiocy is that I, as I’ve discussed in other postings, can’t remember the plot, except about 2 minutes before I read it. So I’ll go ahead and read this one too.

Of course if publishers would get a little more variety in their covers, I wouldn’t have this problem. I mean, look at the cover of this book- you could slap any old romance title on it. No wonder I can’t recall which romances I’ve read. Sheesh.

Currently reading "See Jane Date" by Melissa Senate 3 years ago

A Novel about a young bridemaid who attending her younger sister’s wedding and trying to find a date for the wedding. I hope this is good.

Satisfying 3 years ago

Ok. I’ve finished Educating Caroline. The plot and characters and dialogue were a ton of fun, and the historical setting didn’t inhibit any of that. More sex than I recalled (but as discussed elsewhere, I read fast enough that I’m often surprised by the plot in a second read through). I’ve got at least one other historical romance to read before I consider myself to have fulfilled my responsibility here. (And hey, it’s a self serving goal. I’m just stretching my interests a little.)
