How I did it: My friends showed me what to do, we had one dummy round then we played for real...I couldn't believe how easy it was - the only thing I struggle with was when to fold and when to check....I did really well and am looking forward to my next game! Read how I did it…

How I did it: I checked out a few websites and grabbed a friend who knew how to play. Practiced alot, LOST alot of games too. But good learners aren't afraid of losing! Now, I never ever lose a game. After sharing with a couple of girlfriends about my goal to learn how to play poker (I have not been much of a card player in my life), they revealed that they had the desire to work on their game skills as well. Thus, we put together a “Girl’s Night” poker game which occured last night.
Being women of culinary pleasures, we ate homemade “healthy” pizza, an amazing Caesar Salad, and had Strawberries/whipped cream for dessert prior to getting started with the cards.
The game chosen was Texas Hold Em, and we laughed hard as they taught me some of the basic poker information. We played for chips this time, but agreed to have a $10 buy in next time…planned for another Tuesday night two weeks from now.
Of course, with Beginner’s Luck, I cleaned up on the game. Win or not, it was an absolutely brilliant evening spent with friends. A fun and non-stressful way to learn something new!

I can now consistently earn money on one table 1$ Sit-n-Go games :-)
I am also able to “stay alive” on micro-limit NL tables.
I am still too often assuming people are bluffing and pushing 2nd or 3rd best hands :-( It’s costing me money…

My bf has a poker game on his new blackberry. I’ve been watching / playing along and I’m starting to understand it. I still need to practice in real life, not to mention, learn the 100’s of different game’s and way’s to play, but still, at least I get the concept now!!

Well again I think I can tick this one off. I’ve played a fair bit online, I’ve had one “real money” game with friends and didn’t do too badly – so although I’m reluctant to say yes I can now play poker – because I think you are always learning poker – I will tick off as done.

The Zune firmware just got updated, and now there are games, including Texas Hold ‘Em. Learning to play that game will be good enough for me.

For me this goal is completed when I can earn on average $50 per hour over three month period playing NL/FL hold’em online (not including multi table tournaments…)
At the moment I can stay even on micro limit tables, so I am really a newbie… (but learning fast!)
