When you want to get something you wrote published, do you care how many people read it? For practice, consider writing editorials and submitting them to a local newspaper. Also, seek out literary magazines. It is certainly far departed from the New York Times bestseller list, but the odds are better. The odds are highly against getting a manuscript published.
