We had a great time in Vietnam and saw the following highlights. The giant Jesus statue at Vung Tau, Cu Chi tunnells park, boat ride on the Mekong Delta, Presidential Palace and the War Museum. Vietnam is a very capitalistic country considering it is a communist state and the businesses are great. One word of warning, if you need to book a taxi do it via your hotel because there are too many crooked ones on the street. Will add some pictures shortly and in coming years we will probably go to Hanoi and Sapa (08/10/11). 4 months ago

We are now doing our final packing and going through our last minute list of things to do and confirming motels and various other bookings. We go to the Gold Coast Tomorrow (Saturday) and fly to Malaysia Sunday. We then fly to Vietnam on Wednesday. We are very excited at the moment. I will try to make posts as we go but they may be few and far between over the next few weeks (23/9/11). 4 months ago

Yesterday we went to the Doctor and checked out the situation with our malaria tablets. Apparently the areas of Vietnam that we need to travel to, and the times we need to travel, we do not need malaria tablets. I also updated and added some items to our Doctor’s letter to bring into the country (28/08/11). 5 months ago

Our visas have come back from the embassy and I have organised an appointment to get malaria tablets from the Doctors surgery. Last week we also bought some power point adapters. Next on the list is to book our Gold Coast motel for the two flights into and out of Malaysia. So we are slowly crossing things of our to do list (17/08/11) 6 months ago

Over the past two days we checked with the embassies in Malaysia and vietnam as to the procedure to get our sons medicine into their countries and also with Air Asia for bringing it onto the airline. We found out that we simply needed a Doctor’s certificate which is great. We have also found the forms on the Vietnamese Embassies website for gaining a Visa. So we will apply for one of these shortly (28/07/11). 6 months ago

Our son’s pediatrition has told us that when we go overseas we will need to show the airline we are travelling with a copy of the letter he will supply. So I will need to check this with the airline and I think I will ring the various countries embassies to which we are travelling to make sure we are doing all the correct things (18/07/11). 7 months ago

Today we went and bought our currency as well as a suitcase for travel. We received quite a good price for our currency which is a pleasent caused by the strengthening of the Australian Dollar. So over the coming weeks we will slowly but surely do the remaining things on our list before we travel (08/07/11) 7 months ago

We were looking on a tourist site for Ho Chi Minh City last night and spotted an acrobatic group that performs on weekends. It looked exciting, very colouful, with a lot high wire acts. So we have booked ourselves seats for October. It should be a good night (13/06/11). 8 months ago
