From the first day, I insisted no boxes went into the living room or dining room and it kept these spaces open and clutter free. Just the furniture. That has been a live saver to have these beautiful spaces clutter free and wonderful while the rest of the house works its way into order. Right now, after 7 weeks, it is all comfy and usable. Still to finish are the master and office but otherwise, its is relatively done.
It still astounds me that I get to live in my dream.
This is such a special place. I have been able to entertain here more in 6 weeks than I did in the last place for 6 years. Many people for a variety of occasions. Especially a party for my daughter – a send off.
So, it is home. It feels like home. Today is the first day I really have had to just enjoy it. And I am enjoying it very much. Cleaning periodically, but the kitchen is pure heaven and I love to cook and prepare food there. Yummy meals today and a juice! So easy to clean and prep everything!
I love my new house. I enjoy my new house. I enjoy making it a home and I will be thrilled to keep evolving it that way. It is home to me though and I love it.
Now, if winter could end, life would be even better. 2 weeks ago

Pretty amazing. It all happened so fast. Very spontaneous.
I am going to have a wonderful home. The home of my dreams. 3 months ago
our master bedroom remodeled for around two years now. There are still areas in the house (the garage, the laundry room and the balcony at the back) that are still unfinished, but the livable areas (entrance, living and dining rooms, kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms) are all done. There are still a few finishing details waiting to be completed, but there is nowhere the amount of clutter and disorganization of four years ago, thank God.
But I’ve realized that making a home is not a discrete goal that you can check as done in a definite amount of time. It’s a skill that grows over time. As your skills improve, so do your homemaking abilities. The Cheryl Mendelson book is a great reference in the sense that once you master a new skill you’re ready for the next one. Keeping a house clean, ordered and making it feel like a truly restful place takes time, skill and dedication. But it’s so worth it! 4 months ago
I bought a new house. A beautiful, spectacular new home. I have to close on it on in late November.
But. I bought it.
I really did it.

Then I come to my place and can’t understand why I’d move.
I am so confused on this.
I both love and hate my place.

I pulled it together myself.
Have to keep going.
I start to question whether this is the right home or not.
I think I should look and find a better home.
Wow. I believe that is true.
Take a look around now and try to close in July/August.
Not sure, but maybe I need to list what is right for me now. 11 months ago
has fallen apart around the edges…
need to get some help, again.

It looks fabulous. Really well cared for. Still clutter in places but generally a clean, sleek look.
Bringing people into the space all the time helps keep it that way.
Can I say…finally? 22 months ago
I’m buying my house. I have been renting. Now I am buying it. It will truly be my home. 2 years ago
What is next?
The hallway and the dressing room.
Then, a redo sweep to really get to the decluttering needed to make this place really work.
Going to look for new office furnishing.
make me smile in the living room, too.
Wall hangings all working.
finally hanging things up on the wall.
I can’t believe it is all working together.
Still have help coming in between. 2 years ago
done: bedroom, 1 fourth of other bedroom, trashed one that was done 1 half to be determined what to do with “stuff”; living room, dining room, office areas, both bathrooms, basement, (except ‘stuff’ again), hallway 90 percent.
to be done: tables/sofa table for bedroom, hang pictures, other bedroom, determine paper system, books, new office furnishing?

We are making that bedroom wonderful! It is so clean and clear right now. Going to get a new bedroom set. This weekend entails measuring how much clothing I have to determine the footage I need for my clothing. I know it sounds odd but this will make all the difference in the world – to have a new bedroom set that creates an actual home for everything – with room to add some things that I love, too.
My favorite moment was parting with my favorite nightshirt! I guess you know when you really do/do not love your things. My organizer is great, though. She is helping me let go of things while making the things I love have a great home and space to celebrate. I am very happy with the progress. It only took 2 weeks with her help. I am halfway home. It reminds me of the overhaul of the basement last year, though much, much easier. :) And, I am having fun. The rest of the house looks beautiful – with help. I am making a home!!!
It feels wonderful. Hosting guests now in in view. I can do it. 2 years ago
Now that I have sort of a household routine established, the clutter is disappearing a step at a time and the house looks a lot more ordered and clean than a year ago. Now I really feel like I’ve made a home. Guess what? My husband still has not finished remodelling the house, but I decided that I cannot wait for the house to be finished in order to feel at ease. I have no idea when we will have our master bedroom back. Maybe in a year or two? Who knows? Anyway, I have found a peaceable middle ground, and I feel contented with what I have accomplished, considering the circumstances. So I will declare this goal reached as of today. 2 years ago
I realize i need continuous help to maintain what i have done so i now have house cleaners coming every two weeks so that i don’t lose grounds. really important. it makes it all achievable.
otherwise, i know i would not be able to continue to make gains.
and i am. organizer coming in this week to help with 2 more areas of the house. really need to break free in the bedroom.
can’t even walk in it now. my last dumping ground!!! can you imagine – my bedroom? free it up woman. get it alive and beautiful! 2 years ago
i guess i am making progress.
