Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Beginnings HereI did get the files out

I just can’t find the bars to hang the files.

However, I did get the chaise up from the garage and it looks comfy on the deck.

Not sure where the best placement will be, but so far it is working out to keep experimenting with things.

Slowly I make the changes. Love working on the yard. Will need to reenter life at some point. 7 months ago

Beginnings HereHilarious! Still can't get the office and master finished.

The rest of the house look great.

I just pulled out the umbrella for the back porch. Next up – the chaise! I am so psyched. I got the garden leaves 99.9 percent up. That took a month! So many leaves! The living room, dining room and den are so easy to care for…and the 3 bathrooms and guest room. The kitchen I stay on top of for the most part and someday…I will get the master finished with the office too. Tomorrow, I swear, I am going to pull out my files from 2 boxes and get them set up!

As for the house….still love living in it. My goal of living in a resort is coming true. It feels that way.. Very much. 8 months ago

Beginnings HereI have a kick-ass home!

I love love love my new home. More work. More home. Gorgeous home.

I love every view corridor within it. I love ever point of view in it.

I love my new home. I love how comfy it is even as it is spacious.

Cozy, yet grand. Cuddles, yet soars. Oh so full of light everywhere!

Lovely outdoor spaces, too.

It needs some tlc from me, but it is SO HOME~~! 8 months ago

Beginnings HereI chuckle re-reading the entry...

Still the master and the office.

I plan each weekend to do them

but something better keeps showing up

Relaxing, friends, books, journaling, walking… all better things than getting the office unpacked! 9 months ago

Beginnings HereA month of living in it…three months, almost

It feels so wonderful.

I still haven’t really “decorated” though I plan on it.

I have been waiting for the weather to break. Kind of just contemplating and sitting in peace through February and March.

Slowly doing a little bit at a time, but certainly not getting a whole lot done.

as an intention. lol

the place just feels so special without needing to do much.

inspirational. everyone who comes does not want to leave. very comfy.

very comfy. i love it. it is more home than anywhere I have ever lived. 9 months ago

Beginnings HereThe new house is becoming home

From the first day, I insisted no boxes went into the living room or dining room and it kept these spaces open and clutter free. Just the furniture. That has been a life saver to have these beautiful spaces clutter free and wonderful while the rest of the house works its way into order. Right now, after 7 weeks, it is all comfy and usable. Still to finish are the master and office but otherwise, its is relatively done.

It still astounds me that I get to live in my dream.

This is such a special place. I have been able to entertain here more in 6 weeks than I did in the last place for 6 years. Many people for a variety of occasions. Especially a party for my daughter – a send off.

So, it is home. It feels like home. Today is the first day I really have had to just enjoy it. And I am enjoying it very much. Cleaning periodically, but the kitchen is pure heaven and I love to cook and prepare food there. Yummy meals today and a juice! So easy to clean and prep everything!

I love my new house. I enjoy my new house. I enjoy making it a home and I will be thrilled to keep evolving it that way. It is home to me though and I love it.

Now, if winter could end, life would be even better. 10 months ago

Beginnings HereI went looking online and then driving around...

Then I come to my place and can’t understand why I’d move.

I am so confused on this.

I both love and hate my place.

Beginnings HereI did...

I pulled it together myself.

Have to keep going.

I start to question whether this is the right home or not.

I think I should look and find a better home.

Wow. I believe that is true.

Take a look around now and try to close in July/August.

Not sure, but maybe I need to list what is right for me now. 20 months ago

Beginnings HereIf you could see it right now

It looks fabulous. Really well cared for. Still clutter in places but generally a clean, sleek look.

Bringing people into the space all the time helps keep it that way.

Can I say…finally? 2 years ago

Beginnings HereIncredible twist

I’m buying my house. I have been renting. Now I am buying it. It will truly be my home. 3 years ago

Beginnings Heremy room, my daughter's room - laundry room - done!!!!!

What is next?

The hallway and the dressing room.

Then, a redo sweep to really get to the decluttering needed to make this place really work.

Going to look for new office furnishing.

make me smile in the living room, too.

Wall hangings all working.

finally hanging things up on the wall.

I can’t believe it is all working together.

Still have help coming in between. 3 years ago

Beginnings HereThe other half is almost under control!!!!

done: bedroom, 1 fourth of other bedroom, trashed one that was done 1 half to be determined what to do with “stuff”; living room, dining room, office areas, both bathrooms, basement, (except ‘stuff’ again), hallway 90 percent.

to be done: tables/sofa table for bedroom, hang pictures, other bedroom, determine paper system, books, new office furnishing?

The end is near!!!!! 3 years ago

Beginnings HereThe end is in sight!

We are making that bedroom wonderful! It is so clean and clear right now. Going to get a new bedroom set. This weekend entails measuring how much clothing I have to determine the footage I need for my clothing. I know it sounds odd but this will make all the difference in the world – to have a new bedroom set that creates an actual home for everything – with room to add some things that I love, too.

My favorite moment was parting with my favorite nightshirt! I guess you know when you really do/do not love your things. My organizer is great, though. She is helping me let go of things while making the things I love have a great home and space to celebrate. I am very happy with the progress. It only took 2 weeks with her help. I am halfway home. It reminds me of the overhaul of the basement last year, though much, much easier. :) And, I am having fun. The rest of the house looks beautiful – with help. I am making a home!!!

It feels wonderful. Hosting guests now in in view. I can do it. 3 years ago

Beginnings Herekeeping it that way is a challenge but I am there

I realize i need continuous help to maintain what i have done so i now have house cleaners coming every two weeks so that i don’t lose grounds. really important. it makes it all achievable.

otherwise, i know i would not be able to continue to make gains.

and i am. organizer coming in this week to help with 2 more areas of the house. really need to break free in the bedroom.

can’t even walk in it now. my last dumping ground!!! can you imagine – my bedroom? free it up woman. get it alive and beautiful! 3 years ago

Beginnings Herebetter! the whole top floor is usable. now just the bedrooms are left to make wonderful

i guess i am making progress.

i will get on the bedrooms this summer.

beautiful home. promise.

coming soon – when things don’t move later… lol

a return to my earlier years of organization. 3 years ago
