Heather is Happy
How I did it: I have so many bad dreams it's ridiculous. Lately they've been getting worse again. So I googled "dreamcatcher" and read about how they were made traditionally. I read that they were originally made with red willow or red osia dogwood, and strung with stinging nettle stalks. I just happen to have a red osia dogwood and some tall stinging nettles in my front yard, so I went harvesting last night and wove myself a really funky-looking dreamcatcher! I used an earring for the bead in the middle. Unfortunately I couldn't find any feathers, but oh well.
I hung the dreamcatcher up over my bed. It smelled so nice because the dogwood and nettle stalks were fresh. My husband came into the bedroom and said, "Wow, it smells really good in here!" And maybe it's a coincidence, but my dreams last night were not bad, and I slept quite well.
Lessons & tips: When you are making your dreamcatcher, think about all the people that have made them in the past and why they did it. Think about what kind of materials they might have used. Think about where your materials come from (wood, leather, sinew, feathers. etc.) and remember to be grateful for the sources. I know this might sound flaky, but it really helped me to focus and put a lot of positive thought and energy into my dreamcatcher.
