first time i used them wasn’t good, my shoulder hurted
i need to remeber to stand tall, and to swing my arms from shoulders instead of elbows
today i brought them to work so i can walk home, it is 2 km :-)
p.s. it was fun; it took 30 min (door to door). i focused on swinging arms from shoulders. i forgot about rotation completely. next time.

This is a very good sign. I have never in my life missed a piece of exercise equipment, but here I am in L.A., pining for the poles.
Well, when she gets home, Rabbi Adar will just have to go walkin’ with the poles. Heh!

every other day, because I need a day for my muscles to recover in between. That will pass with time, but right now I’m so out of shape that it’s required.
And it is still fun! I feel like a nut walking around with what looks like ski poles, but my body loves it.

this afternoon—I’m jazzed!
I can’t believe I’m actually excited about getting exercise. Wonders never cease.
Miracles, either.

I went walking today with Catattack down at the Marina. I was a little self-conscious at first, but once I quit paying attention to other people and focussed on my own walking, these poles are FUN. The trick was to not push myself too far, too fast, not a problem I usually have. (Usually my problem is wondering “Is it 20 minutes yet?”)
Great workout… six hours and a nap later my arms are a bit stiff, my shoulders a bit stiff, and my knees are in no worse condition than when I set out. I got the proper amt of cardio exercise for me, and lo, and behold, I seem to have gotten some strength building too, on my upper body no less.
And it felt so COOL. Like flying along. Or a great toy. I’m hooked. :)

and am pretty excited about this.
Something about looking like a nut in public. Oh, and taking pressure off my knees.

I’ve gone to two professional lessons. Now it’s time to practice and get the technique down better, and start doing it regularly, especially on the weekends! Join that Tuesday walking group when I can, too.

Next step is to attend a workshop for beginners. Slowly but surely I am making this happen. :)
