Ankou is in a bad, bad mood
This should have been on my list but … I’m not sure why it wasn’t. While the old monitor worked well it was time to ditch the ol’ CRT and make the jump to LCD. Found a pretty good deal in the paper and ended up buying an Acer 22” widescreen – and lovin’ every minute of it!
It became necessary to buy a new monitor when I was watering the plant that sits above my monitor on the shelf on my desk and the water leaked into the holes in my old CRT monitor. I put up with a tiny monitor from my nonboyfriend (Are we back together? Your guess is as good as mine!) since he had an extra just lying around. (They are geeks in every sense of the word, he has a desktop at school with two monitors and his laptop. He runs multiple websites and they are constantly buying extra hard drives for their server. He runs Linux on everything. But no running it on my computer. I must play Sims 2. He goes to RIT.)
I could not deal with that thing. It was tiny. My old one was 17 inches.
Now I have a 19 inch widescreen flat panel beauty. Not the best by any stretch of the imagination, but it works. I can see things on my screen. I don’t have to scroll over to read every website even with my book marks closed. AIM doesn’t take up almost half of my screen. I’m content.
It’s fantastic. I now hook a 21” monitor to my laptop so I have both my laptop screen and my 21”. It is nice, especially when I’m coding and want to look at code on one screen and documentation on another, or surf the web or whatever.
It’s big! It’s bad! It’s black! It’s the John Shaft of computer monitors! :cue music: That monitor is a bad mother SHUT YO MOUTH!
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the HP 9500! A big, beautiful 19 inch monitor with . . . I don’t know. It shows the god damn picture. What more do you people want?? Is it a top of the line, new LCD model monitor that will make every one else cry? Hell no, do I look like a Rockefeller? I got it because I really did need a new monitor and this one was $120. It makes my old one look like a box with a screen drawn on it. Of course, so does an Etch-a-Sketch, but trust me this one is really nice. The old one not so much. It was dark when the brightness settings were at maximum and had this unnerving habit of turning things green for no apparent reason causing everyone to suddenly look like Greedo. I saw a picture of British Prime Minister Tony Blair and he looked like a nauseous leprechaun.
Most importantly, the cats have gained a new toy—the box. They have now created an elaborate fort out of the monitor’s box and Styrofoam packaging. They seem to be preparing for an attack, but from whom I have no idea.
