crochet a blanket

gave up but I think I’m getting the hang of a ripple. Is that weird that I can’t do the most basic of squares but don’t find the ripple so bad? 4 days ago

did teach me many moons ago how to do granny squares so I’d like to try to remember how to do it and actually make a blanket. The hope is that I will get it done before my current foster child moves out so they can have it as a keepsake of their time with us. 1 month ago

I was going to make a blanket for a baby, but I used one roll of yarn on the first stripe already, and only have one left. Strike one.

I talked to my sister, and she said that baby blankets are not made out of wool, because babies need something soft. Strike two.

Then, I found out that the baby shower is in something like two or three days. Not enough time to make a blanket. Strike three.

Maybe I will still make a blanket, and use it for my house. But, this yarn is blue, and I like green yarn. Maybe I should make myself some wool socks instead… How do you make socks though? I don’t know. I will probably stick to rectangular things for now. 6 months ago

Okay, so when I was a kid, I took crochet lessons for a little while, but then I quit, because my teacher was very crotchety, and I was afraid of her. (In retrospect, she was just a grumpy, but nice old lady).

Anyway, I barely remember anything about crocheting. I tried to make a hat for a friend’s new baby a while back, and it turned out to be a weird little tightly wound doily thing instead.

I have another friend who is having a baby. I decided to do a very simple blanket with the simplest stitch ever. A friend of mine showed me how to do it today, and I have a few weeks to finish it, and some free time. If I do a good job, maybe I will make some more for one of those “Blankets For Charity” projects. 7 months ago
