"It's never too late to do it."
How I did it: I used to be a hardcore wow addict, it did not get any worse than me,
quit jobs school, social life, let opportunities slip by, senior year
wasted. Yet I did it, so can you.
Basically I wanted to quit for months but I could not find the willpower to do it since important things seemed to have little value compared to the game. So I literally tried to bore myself of wow, which often takes a complete change of how you play the game, I just server transferred and waited to get bored.
One day all of the sudden I decided it was done, the game did not offer me any entertainment, i closed my account (you can just delete your stuff), removed subscription.
To put a lid on the situation I reformatted my hard drive, to leave no trace of the game whatsoever, the CDs are somewhere (??).
Thats it.
Lessons & tips: Quitting wow can arguably be comparable to quitting smoking/drinking according to other people who have gone through them. Its very hard to make a swift transition when you are really hooked to it, its often best to do a smooth gradual transition (e.x smokers use patches/gum).
Be ready to remove all possible ties to the game, no wow talk whatsoever. As cruel as it sounds you might have to give up some of your RL "wow friends" for a while.
The game will still be on your head, and might pop up and temp you to go back (specially with frequent TV commercials and website ads), but you must think of how the game has changed you, and the things you gave up to play it, you must stand strong.
Be proud to have quit, you must look at it as a major accomplishment, if there be any wow talk it should only be about your quitting experience, trying to exalt any and all positives changes that happened on your life after you quit.
