today i made dinner, it just wasn’t a proper three-course one.
i made moroccon pancakes, with mushroom risotto, and banana cupcakes with cream cheese frosting for dessert.
the pancakes were okay. if i made them again, i’d overhaul the recipe big time. the risotto was nice, but mum helped me with that a lot, because i was panicking about not having it done in time. the cupcakes however, were almost perfect. i accidentally changed the recipe, but they turned out lovely. and i sliced fresh banana on top, and sprinkled them with coconut. yum yum yum.
but yes. it was fun, although surprisingly exhausting. and it took about three hours, i’d say. still, i’d definitely like to do it again. i’m on a recipe hunt. 5 years ago
i’d love to do this, still, but at the moment i barely have time to buy the ingredients, let alone make the meal. i think i should master some basic meals, first. 5 years ago
we just got our kitchen redone. it is very nice and shiny. seems like the perfect time, hey? now i just need to learn to cook… 6 years ago

i’ll do it when we get back from sydney. 6 years ago
okay. main meal of pumpkin & ricotta canneloni has been decided, with mushroom risotto for phoebe (maybe on the side for the rest of us). 6 years ago
this is something i’ve wanted to do for a while. dad and mum are so busy, and i do nothing to help around the house at all. so one night i would like for them both to be able to come home from work, and sit down to a dinner where they don’t have to do any cooking or cleaning up. and as horrible and ungrateful as it sounds, it will be nice for us all to have a little variety i think.
but! there are two problems. firstly, finding the time myself. any days i am at home during the day, i tend to be out at night; so any preparation i did would go out the window because i wouldn’t be there to organise for us all to sit down and eat. and other times that i am home for dinner, i would have had no time to actually prepare anything during the day. thankfully though, holidays start soon. so i’m thinking the week after next and a monday or wednesday. i’m not rostered on for thursday next week, but i don’t know if that’s a mistake (because there have been a lot lately) so i’m not sure if i want to risk it.
the other problem is trying to decide what to make, because my sister and i are so fussy, and i am not sure if i can bring myself to make any meals involving meat. at the moment though, i am thinking maybe bruschetta with avacado salsa for the appetiser, and a main meal of risotto (mushroom and zucchini would be nice). for dessert i was thinking about making homemade icecream, or a cheesecake, or going over to spend a day with my grandma and asking her about all the desserts she used to make, for my dadda. like chocolate pudding and lemon delicious.
of course they all have to complement one another as well and i have no idea about that kind of thing. 7 years ago
