DocD is having a rainy day.
I live and work by the beach, Windward Oahu. I’m out in the sun and sand everyday. Also spent a lot of time on South East Asian island beaches.
How I did it: I decided that I wanted to live near water. I didn't know anything about any of the beach communities in my state. So I started telling anyone and everyone about my goal and started gathering information... why it's great, why it's not (I didn't listen to them and I'm glad I didn't!), what towns are nice, are they family towns, older, youthful??

i grew up on the water, lakes and rivers, but i never even saw a beach until i was probably almost 20 years old. for the last 10 years it’s never gone away. i go every chance i get, which is only a few times a year. it kinda helps curb the salt water air addiction, but it’s not enough anymore. i’ve decided that i’m doing it. going to find a small place for me and the wife (if we don’t kill each other first) my motorcycle and a dog and be the happiest person in the world.
daywithoutrain is studying french!
I grew up right next to the beach in Orange County, CA. It’s a wonderful place to be when you’re a kid! A lot of fun memories out there in the sun. It’s hard to find time to get out there once you’re older. I’m going to make more of an effort to appreciate it regularly, though :)

sunshineKid is eating far too much!
This is definately one of those ‘things to do before you die’ things.
Id do anything, work in some crap shop forever if i could live by the sea. So i could see the waves when its stormy and eat seaside fish and chips, well chips sometimes. Jerry could be a seaside cat. It could rain and i wouldnt care cause it would look lovely. And there would be ice cream shops and kids in their wellies and macs. Yeah ok, i know exactly where I want to live.
tomkat67 's dreams are bigger than the obstacles.
I grew up about 4 blocks from Lake Michigan. I live about 2 miles away now, and still feel lucky to have such a beautiful beach in my hometown. My partner and I bought a piece of property that is a short walk to the beach, and I hope that we have the capital to start building our dream home soon!
alexljsanders You are a Healthy Money Managing Extrovert :)
I am going to start looking at rentals by the beach. I live in a very expensive area and need to save more money so moving to a suburb by the beach would solve that. Another one of my goals is to spend more time at the beach! 2 birds, 1 stone. (do not get comfused with 2 girls, 1 cup hahah)
it’s my dream slash goal..
by the beach on Long Island..
View of the ocean right out the window..
I would be in love with it forever..
I just love being around the water..
I love the ocean..
It’s not always what it’s cracked up to be. You think you would go to the beach everyday—but you don’t. You have to work. Plus you always get sand in your car.
