Using Library Thing to catalogue. Organizing books by Grade/Age, then I’ll organize by topic.

Lost 2 years ago

I have librarything and have even tried a few others. They are really great for catalogueing but I have no idea which way would be best to actually organize the books so I can easily find them.

I love librarything.com.

I have a lot of my collection added straight from memory from just being able to search through and click on the ones I know I have. It’s been great. I have 125 books (out of 500+) in that list and just need to sit down one day and crank through them. Woo.

If you haven’t checked out LibraryThing yet, you should. :)

I added my books to librarything.com a few months ago. It is very nice to be able to double-check from work whether I already have a particular book at home.

yay! 3 years ago

I Love it! my whole library is catalogued on my computer-better back it up! it would suck if i did all that and then i lost it, eh? but yeah-totally worth it, and i feel better about my life. sad but true.

almost done! 3 years ago

i have one more book shelf to do, and i’m finished! whew! this is taking longer than i thought. one problem i’ve encountered—the more i put in Delicious Library, the frequency of the damn thing crashing! it’s getting annoying actually. i heard that this happens when your library starts getting full. i’m giving it a rest for today and try again some other time, but i’m hoping that it’s just that the application is tired. is it possible for applications to be tired? oh well!

Probably a never-ending goal ... 3 years ago

... because the books seem to be able to multiply. We did do some basic organization during our move, though. And I’ve started inputting some of the titles into my latest online addiction, LibraryThing. (I use Allconsuming.net too, though for books I’ve read as well as those we own.)

I’m going through and boxing my books in preparation for moving, and inputting the data into Delicious Library as I go along. I intend to upload all the library data to LibraryThing once I’m reasonably up-to-date.

EDIT: Actually, I think I’m going to use LibraryThing exclusively from now on.

So glad I did this 3 years ago

I have over 800 books. I donated nearly 200 to the local library and friends. Readerware made this process so much easier.
