I dont know if mine would really count but i’ll always remember it. I had to tell all the Jr. High band kids why they should join marching band. Marching band is very big at our school (at least in the music department) and something very dear to my heart. So I gave one heart felt speech and we had more recruitments than ever before. They now call me the head of the Recruitment department. I don’t remember half the stuff I said but it did start with.. “Band camp changed my life…”

Well i was on this trip with my classmates and as a project we had to recreate the U.S. Senate. Half my friends (including myself) didn’t know we had to write a speech. One of us had to speak about an old Bill, the Mandatory National Service Act of 2005, well I wasn’t prepared, but I stood up, stood firm, and spoke about it for about 3 minutes. I don’t know exactly what i said, but i was the only speech that day that received an applause. It was different because i was the only actually “giving” a speech per se rather than reading off of a piece of paper. I received a lot of comments on the way i gave my speech.
It was great, sometimes you gotta jump into the water, and learn to swim during the race.

...last summer. It was great. I gave a really good speech, likely the best so far. Better yet it was at the university I graduated from many years ago. Good crowd reaction.

and know that I’m not too bad at it. (Although I’m always striving to improve.)
I’ve given some good ones – on issues that I’m passionate about – but one day know I will hit a ‘home run’.
what a great thing to do! i look forward to doing this! although my mates will prolly just sit there going ‘awwww jen you soft git, shut up’ hahaha
What a great “to do” It brings together so much to give a good speech and to admit to want to give a great speech. Presentation of oneself, the quality of the knowledge of the subject matter, looking at the audience, and always, speaking from conviction and heart and passion. Because as cliche as it is that is what comes across, when you are truly interested in what you are talking about, it has rich meaning for you and when it is not about “you” but the subject. We connect when it is passionate and real. that’s about it. (plus always edit and if able memorize as much as possible)
i had the chance to, as the student body president at my high school, but with the administration that we had, my speech and a few other speeches got cancelled because the chancellor had decided last minute that he was coming. i def. wish i had fought harder for it
