Karen Today is a good day.
I have a new desk that fits in a corner in my room… and nicley looks out the window. It’s next to a ginormous bookshelf, for extra storage and organization, and I now have my laptop on the desk, as well as a printer and other office supplies. And my two three ring binders titled “Online Business” and “Personal Development”... I want to get a bigger desk eventually… but without spending any money for the moment, I have accomplished this goal well enough. May upgrade the home office space when I move, and buy a better desk.

Karen Today is a good day.
Found an old one in the garage, and it fits just perfectly in the only wall space I have left. Well, I didn’t really have it left… I moved things around for it… I might still buy a bigger, newer one for when I move, but for now it’s a good start. :) If I weren’t so tired, I’d be cleaning and organizing it…

Nearly done
All the furniture has been built and then rearranged. The place is set up the way it’s going to be. I have moved nearly everything out of the office to home. The computer is still there, however. I decided to leave it there until the very last minute so I can keep access to a printer. I don’t want to but a printer until next year.
The bedroom is virtually done. I need to get batteries for the little push lights in the wardrobes and decide if I want the door handles or not…and install them if I want them. But I can open the doors without them and that looks nice and clean on the outside, so I may skip the handles.
There’s a dwindling pile of stuff to deal with in the living area. That’s how I work to organize stuff..establish a work area, put everything that needs something done about it there so that everyplace else looks neat and clean and then gradually make the pile smaller. The living area won’t really be cleaned out until I get a chance to go back to my country home next year and take more stuff with me, but the pile will end up being fairly small and organized once it’s all taken care of. Part of the pile are some gifts that need packing up and sending out which will happen soon.
So, I think this will all work out. I’ll let you know whne it’s all done.

I’ve got plans one two days at least next week with different friends where we will put together the new furniture and then rearrange the house. The office itself is mostly torn apart and packed up. I just have a couple of piles of paper to sort through. I’ve moved a few things to home from the office, but will wait on the rest until the space has been rearranged. My deadline is Dec 1. I don’t think I’ll have any problem making that.

Got the stuff

The picture might not be clear, but this is an unassembled IKEA computer desk with some accessories like a tube for the cords, a small lamp, etc. I also have in the other room 2 wardrobes also unassembled. I probably won’t have time for putting things together until towards the end of the month, but I do keep making steady progress.

I did move a couple fo boxes to home from the office. I have an apt next week with a friend to go to IKEA to buy the furniture. Another friend came over and looked over what will need to be done. We planned moving day as going down about a month from now. I still have some books at the office to register with Bookcrossing and then to donate to the library. And a few more things to pack up and sort out. But the ned is in sight.

Monday when it was raining (hoo-ray!!!!) I spent the whole day cleaning and re-arranging my closets and storage areas. I’ve now got room to stash the few things I’m bringing home from the office, and I’ve figured out what will stay here in the city and what will go to the country. It will take at least two trips to the country, so a pile of things will have to be kept in the corner during the winter this year, but I can live with that. I’ve also continued to clean out stuff at the office. I registered more books with BookCrossing (not done yet) and then will give them to this organization we have arranged with to take them away. I went to IKEA on a scouting expedition on Sunday. I’ve decided to put my money into at least two of their wardrobes in order to store some clothes, some books and my dolls that I have from my childhood. The I’m going to buy a fairly inexpensive desk for the work computer, and the computer desk you saw in the picture will become the TV cabinet. Next up, getting a couple of guy friends who have already volunteered to help me move all the present furniture around. Then shopping with another friend who owns a station wagon with room for the new furniture.

We had a clutter clearing day at work on Friday and I got rid of a lot of stuff. I’ve got everything mostly ready to move when I have room at my place.

I have been checking out my place now, and found to my dismay, that there is no phone jack in the place you see pictured, so I can’t make my office there. There are two jacks, one in the kitchen and one in the living room. So the office will have to go into the living room. But this will mean a total furniture and function re-do. I an envision a plan that will work. But it will take WORK as well as some money for a different kind of desk and a new bookcase. Well, an excuse to shop at IKEA is always good.

Office attire
I’m thinking that I could easily become a real slob by working at home. I think I’m going to make some rules for myself so that I don’t. I think I will say that sweatshirts and tee shirts may only be worn on Saturdays or Sundays. I think I will make myself wear nice clothes every day. I will make myself wear jewelry too, but probably not shoes unless I go out…which I will need to make myself do too.
